Not only that, she’s showing a precocious amount of her daddy’s wordsmithery capabilities in that bit of off-the-cuff descriptive phrasing. You’ll wanna be writing that stuff down for posterity, dude. Listening to Petra Haden cover The Who Sell Out acapella-style on Weekend Edition Sunday this morning was surreal. What a bizarre (and dated) album for her to choose to cover that way!

Kevin: Thanks. It’s not any particular filter. What I do is turn the picture black and white, copy the picture onto another later, use the guassian blur, and then fade back the blur to about 30% — that evens out the tone (and gives it that “silvery” look). For edge definition, I’ll do a “photocopy” layer and then fade it back to about 10% or so.

I’m a big fan of both Bill Frisell and the orginal composition. He did a nice instrumental with Dave Holland and Elvin Jones here . No sample of Moon River unfortuneately, you’ll have to buy the record or listen on Rhapsody.
