Lisa, that just puts you in with the ultra-cool kids club. It's nice here, you'll like it.

PS - I enjoyed the whole BaconCat episode, but, like Lisa, wasn't surprised you'd done it, John.

PPS - Not that I'm actually in any ultra-cool kids club. I am the antithesis of ultra-cool. I'm okay with that.

Christian forgot perhaps the key thing to remember about visiting France:

Beware et vous un skunque de pew.

There. Now you're good to go.

So this is me resisting upgrade temptation. You should be proud of me.

Bravo!! ::clap, clap!!::

A good rule of upgrading is that just because an upgrade is available, you don't have to apply it right away. It can wait until you don't have bigger things to worry about. The old version will likely work just fine in the meantime.

Something said here last week led me to check my Technorati stats for the first time in several months. I don't remember the "authority" number (the rank at my level of blogging is too abysmal to bother with), but i did notice that it was about four or five days behind in listing my entries, even ones you linked to from BTW. Conclusion: their numbers are fairly useless, and one should not drive oneself crazy worrying about them.

Have a great trip - and please try to do something other than traveling from point at to point b, blogging, and attending the festival. This is France, for Pete's sake!

I have heard that Nantes is lovely (never been myself). The hell with the internet and keeping us entertained, bring an extra memory card and take LOTS of pictures. You'll be glad you did, once you get home.

TIPS:

1) Don't pack white sneakers (or any kind of sneakers if you can avoid it). Jeans are ok, but you are better off with sport slacks, or ~anything~ black. For the love of god and all that is holy, do not wear any kind of t-shirt with any writing on it.

2) The French are supposed to be rude, but that I think you find that is wrong. They are a bit curt sometimes, but otherwise very nice. Learn how to say Hello, Goodbye, Please, Thank You, and Where's the bathroom - in French. You will do just fine, and they'll appreciate your effort.

3) Don't eat any American food. You are in a gastronome's heaven, so enjoy!

You know, I've noticed that with Technorati too. Not that my blog is anywhere near as popular as yours, John, but a few months ago, I had a ranking somewhere around 40,000... now it's about 74,000. Yet according to Feedburner, the number of feeds subscribed to my blog has gone from 31 to 86, in the same time period. Go figure.

Appropos to nothing whatsoever, but can I admit that I never got the big deal about BaconCat? I mean, yeah. I found it amusing. But maybe it is because I was reading a long time before and it surprised me not one iota that you would go and do such a thing. It was more like, oh yeah. Scalzi's gonna actually tape bacon to his cat (when seeing your to do list.) and then, yep. There it is. Scalzi taped bacon to his cat. It was funny, but I never got the whole reason that it is mentioned every other day here.

There. I admitted it. Am I out of the cool kids club now? (Like I was ever in it to begin with. : ).
