Interesting Cover

Published by John Scalzi at 12:41 pm

John Legend covering “Pride (In the Name of Love).”

Quite obviously, there’s a reason I’m noting the video today.

First the chills running up my spine.
Then the hair standing up on my neck and head.
    Then the tears.

    Thanks for sharing that, John.

Very nicely done. I’ll have to catch the History Channel special…

Bitter: No idea. I think it’s probably not necessary.

I can’t believe Obama is courting Rev Wright on this MLK death day. This can’t be good for his campaign:

    Very funny, Greyheck.

I doubt Rev. King would have much use for Pastor Wright.

Let’s move on from that particular subject.

Did anyone happen to notice that there were two MLK days this year? You could look it up.

Guess the first one wasn’t at the right point in the election cycle…

Is the History Channel showing more music videos than MTV now?

  14. John Scalzion 05 Apr 2008 at 12:41 pm

Since MTV doesn’t actually seem to show videos anymore, yes.

Wow. Thank you. I’ve always believed that a good cover should be a decent rendition of the song, respectful of the original material, yet building on whatever the new artist’s strengths are. That was beautiful.

Was the History Channel’s “originally by U2″ tag really necessary?
