I added this to my list when I first saw it, read it in less than a day once I got it, and just came back to reread the 'Big Idea' now that I have actually read the book. Needless to say, Melko's other works are on order and high up in my queue..

I read THE WALLS OF THE UNIVERSE last weekend, and was very, very impressed by it. It's the kind of novel that seems designed to trip the pleasure-sensors in my brain; it's fast moving, with well-worked out speculation, characters I can identify with, and with a retro-vibe, too.

A most excellent novel.

The novella was great, I loved it! Melko has been on my to-look-for list since then. I'll have to get the novel!

I got an ARC of this and read it about a month ago. I was pretty satisfied with the whole thing. I think people will really enjoy it.

I knew this sounded familiar; it was Unshelved book of the week two weeks ago! http://www.unshelved.com/archive.aspx?strip=20090215 (Does that look right? My htlm-fu is weak.)

In fact, that comic is how I found OMW too.

Awesome Big Idea!

This one also sounds interesting - when/if they come down off of the current insane ebook pricing I'll certainly give it a look.

Library Mark @3: Hey, I've lost count of the the Big Idea books I've found in my local library catalogue--and either had to wait in the "hold" queue for or was the first person in line for! Then there were the ones I requested that turned up in the catalogue shortly thereafter--my local librarians (like all good librarians) pay attention to their readers, they do . . .
