It is interesting how fast some people decide they like something or not. Jeez...that was only 32 seconds and was designed to barely wet your appetite, so you might pay more attention to the next promo. It's impossible to tell if it will be "darker" than the others. Relax and give it one episode before all of you say it is pure unmitigated crap or a joyous opiate that can make us forget about our soul sucking life for an hour each week.

Let's hope it's not DS9 or Voyager quality.

Judging entirely from that thirty-second trailer, which of course perfectly encapsulates the entire ethos of the show without flaw, I'm getting "Lost" vibes. Small group of antagonistic protagonists, stranded in the middle of nowhere, forced to butt heads and work together to survive and figure out where they are and what's going on? Lost ... in Space! :D

Also, as people have noted, Voyager. Hopefully though it will not suck half as much as either Lost or Voyager, since Scalzi is on board to whack the writers upside the head when they err.

If it works, I look forward to buying the DVDs.

Wow. Looks like they parroted the Cloverfield trailer.
Except the Cloverfield trailer actually made sense. That was just a bunch of random scenes and cliche foreshadowing quotes. Sorry, SyFy, you're going to have to do better to impress me.

I like Stu's comments.

As much as I've been a fan of the Stargate shows, I have to wonder if the perception that the show is "dark" is because of the poor lighting in the trailer. ;)

The Wiki entry is far more "illuminating."

My dislike of the trailer aside, I'm really looking forward to a new Stargate series. :)

Steve Burnapon - Voyager was and is my favorite of all the ST shows. Some of the story arcs were mind blowing, particularly during the later years. I was so sad when it ended - and am really sad that nothing new has taken its place. I loved the writing too (again, as the show got better, I think the stories got better and better, particularly when DS9 ended and they were able to concentrate their resources.......and on a side note, DS9 sucked until lWorf got there, and then, with the Defiant and the Arcs they put in their w/ the War, I really enjoyed the last year or two)....despite all the lame 2nd rate characters.

Now on to SGate Universe. I am so excited - I was just making a joke up above - I think its a great concept and I think very smart to get away from the standard base-centered missions. I'm also excited by the cast, particularly Lou Diamond Phillips. Also, kudos for not putting in any actors from Firefly or Farscape or Star Trek this time (or now that BSG is ending...I don't want to see Starbuck or Adama pop up for chirisakes!.....although I'd make an exception for 7of9, as addressed above...and again, I prefer red-head for this iteration. Also, Chakotay was good too...lol).

on a side note, does anyone know if these guys accept SPEC scripts like Star Trek used to? I always meant to get my @ss in gear and send something in....
