The Obama High Speed Rail Initiative Generates an Unexpected Rural Spur

Yes, Lopsided Cat has been commissioned as Darke County’s monorail cat. He’s looking forward to his first passengers, which he reports will be small neighborhood rodents, which he plans on carrying in his belly. Don’t ask how they will exit the train car upon reaching their destination.

  1. “Don’t ask how they will exit the train car upon reaching their destination”

    Through the rear presumably.

  2. So, would that lopsided look be the reason for his unusual name, or is his name-look more lopsided than that?

‘Cause this look is adorable. *squeeees*

  3. One hopes he leaves you plenty of gifts, after all its hard to feed a family these days and free meat is always a boon.

  4. Our CCOs (Chipmunk Control Officers) leave lots of tolls with us.

I just wish they would do something about the d-mn-d deer. 20 Bambis at once are not cute.

  5. Kevin: It glides as softly as a cloud. That purrs.

  6. O Great Scalzi, what a superb picture of Mighty Lopsided Cat.

From the drab and dreary lighting, it is clear that Her Most Perfect Shimmering Radiant Perfection has yet to arise and illuminate the world. When She does – since it appears you’re not doing anything else – perhaps you might document and report the event.

Really, you’re not doing anything else.

  7. This should be your new boilerplate “this is why we call him lopsided cat” piece of evidence – he’s very cute.

  8. I have questions. I realise the answers are none of my beeswax, but …

What do you actually call Lopsided Cat when you speak to him/her? Lop? Cat?

Is LC a Maine Coon, or just a really big and ultra-gorgeous tabby?

Did Lopsided Cat once have an ear infection? I ask because a friend has a cat who is even more lopsided, and it happened after a bad ear infection left him with an equilibrium problem.

Ghlaghghee is absoultely the right colour for cats, but OMG, Lopsided Cat has a beeyootiful face.

  9. “Good morning blogosphere how are ya?

Don’t you know me, I’m John Scalzi’s cat

I’m the cat they call lopsided monorail cat

I’ll be linked 500 times before the day is done”

  10. Is this what Glenn Beck means by “We surround you”?
‘Cause Mr. Lopsided has pretty well surrounded that fence rail.

  11. Hey, Scalzi

More a monotail ’cause he’d probably look silly with two.

    Thanks for the photo.

  12. And Scalzi launches the new green movement, self energizing transportation. It runs on the power of its passengers.

  13. In Japan they have the cat bus, but no cat train so far as I know.

  14. I don’t know, Monorail Cat sounds more like a Shelbyville kind of idea…
