Senate Democrat leaders are now threatening to revoke chairmanship posisitons of any democratic senator who allows a republican fillibuster to go through.

The link contains a Rachael Maddow clip of the news and a petition you can sign to support the idea.

Article here saying that Obama gave a speech at the whitehouse with 150 doctors from 50 different states, all supporting health care reform.

I think he finally figured out he's going to have to drumbeat this thing to get it through the noise of "death panels" and such nonsense.

Grayson, today, on Boehner's response about Pelosi and rhetoric:

"it's just another Republican hissy fit."

Wow. Just great. Absolutely great.

LOL, Bill, yes, that seems to be a major Republican criticism, doesn't it, with Wilson, Bachman and others -- we must not only have the regulations but we must have language to cover every possible violation of those regulations, including completely imaginary conspiracies, or we can't have a bill at all!

Jason Linkins, a watchdog progressive columnist did sum it up nicely for me today, saying the view of reform opponents is essentially that "we must ration healthcare in order to save it, from rationing!" It's the sort of wishing on fairies idea that you will remain in the group that can afford healthcare and healthcare insurance and that your insurer will actually pay you benefits and not cut those benefits, ration your care and kick you out if you're too expensive, despite what you've paid and despite the fact that it's standard practice for the insurance industry. And everybody else can just go hang. It's a bunker mentality -- I want to stay safe in my bunker and nothing will touch me.

Meanwhile, unemployment is creeping towards 10%. The bunker already blew up.

Yeah. But Bauchman doesn't let words get in her way. Just because it says it follows current federal law doesn't mean it will. You know how those registered nurses who opt for teacher pay even though RNs are in short supply and high financial demand will subvert the law unless they put in a sentence explicitly forbidding school field trips to abortion clinics.

This video, around 1:45 minutes into it, shows that the bill requires parental notification as per the local and state requires.

I was really impressed with Grayson. For a first termer (right) that guy went out and said it like he meant it.

I actually found Boehner's response to be fairly embarassing for himself. After endorsing the rhetoric of the republican party for the last two months, he looks a little silly suddenly giving weight to Nancy pelosi's request for comments in moderation.

Although, Grayson should have avoided the holocaust word drop. The interviews where people challenge his message have all focused on that one word. But good for that guy for not bowing to the unnamed publics call for apology. A politician who says what he means and said it like he meant it. And with facts on his side to boot!

Which is a pretty important distinction. Because otherwise we're applauding Michele bauchmans latest school sex clinic abortion sponsorship. To her credit, the legislation does not explicitly state that secret abortions will Not be given on field trips to planned parenthood.

Facts really make a difference in this sort of thing.

There's another article here that shows two republican congresscritters saying the Democrats are going to kill grandma and right next to it is Grayson's spotlight on republicans not having any plan at all.

Anyone thinking Grayson should apologize should take a number there are hundreds of republican politicians who've said far worse in the last couple months.

Pelosi has pointed out that Republicans seem to be holding Democrats to higher standards than those within their party (i.e., you can't ramble about rationed care death panels and then call no dibsies on the other team,) and if anyone should apologize, everybody should apologize for this kind of speechifying. If the Republicans are smart, they'll drop it....oh, what am I saying, silly me, never mind. :)

McCain has weighed in that he believes healthcare reform will pass with no GOP input or support, and that this will be damaging for the Republicans.

Found this on digby. It's Grayson on CNN. Wolf Blitzer is trying to make Grayson feel bad for telling the truth and Grayson really pushes back on him and won't take it. Pretty cool.

Wikipedia (for what it's worth) gives some background on Grayson. Graduated from Bronx High School of Science, Harvard College (Phi Beta Kappa), Harvard Law School (with honors) and holds a Master of Public Policy from Harvard's John F. Kennedy School of Government.

Apparently there's a Grayson fundraiser going on since he gave his speech.

Oh, and here is Grayson responding in congress to demands he apologize. Oh, he apologized alright.
