In case I don’t get back to y’all through the rest of 2004, have a very happy new year, and I hope your 2005 is everything you want it to be, so long as what you want it to be isn’t “The Year I and My Implacable Robot Hordes Conquer the Earth!” If that’s what you want, I sort of hope you’re disappointed.

Drats! Foiled yet again. Some year I will be able to unleash my plot without anyone finding out about it first! :)
Have a happy new year!
Scalzi’s early New Year’s wish
Scalzi says: “I hope your 2005 is everything you want it to be, so long as what you want it to be isn’t ‘The Year I and My Implacable Robot Hordes Conquer the Earth!””…
I liked the one about Leviticans so much that I passed it on to my pastor. He liked it so much that he passed it on to his district pastor’s group.
Of course most Leviticans would not believe that either of us are actually Christians.
Just to be clear, this means your hoping for the success of my Implacable Genetically-Engineered Monster Hordes, right? I mean, robots? That’s so 1970’s….
Well, studies show that Implacable Genetically-Engineered Monster Hordes just aren’t very reliable, in terms of total mission success (most recent example: the Uruk-Hai from the various Lord of the Rings films). So you can go ahead and *try,* I’m just not expecting a whole lot of success. But, you know, good luck with that!
Hmm…I think the Uruk-Hai were technically Implacable Selectively Bred Monster Hordes, but the application of sorcery does tend to muddy the scientific-magical waters, so to speak….
Incidentally, there’s a really nasty comment spam in your “Voting Christian” thread. It’s worth noting that in all my years of reading the Whatever, this is the first time I’ve actually seen comment spam (owing to your tireless efforts to expunge it, I’m sure).
Oh, and on further reflection, those were just some moldy bits of cheese in the refrigerator, not proto-Genetically-Engineered Monsters, so I think the world is safe from my dominion (for 2005 at least).
Zapped the comment spam on that entry. Thanks.
There’s more spam in the “Why A Shitty Deal is a Shitty Deal” entry.
fixed.
