Cool Book Club News Which Segues Into Shameless Shill

The cool book club news: The Science Fiction Book Club has sold out of its entire first printing of Old Man’s War and is whipping up a second print run. I’m pleased. If you bought a SFBC copy, thanks.
The segue: There is no segue. I thought there would be, but then, suddenly, there wasn’t. I know, false advertising. Sorry about that.
The shameless shill: Agent to the Stars, pre-order, limited edition, donation to Child’s Play charity, shiny shiny, Athena’s college education, yadda yadda yadda. Oh, you know already. But remember that today is the final day for the guaranteed super-secret extra gift with your purchase (remember to put “I Came Here From the Whatever” in the comment space when you make the purchase). So click here to pre-order, and be transported to a place where warm ocean breezes caress your body and soul! Or the Subterranean Press online store. It’s one or the other. You won’t know until you click.
If I hadn’t just blown my last 30 bucks on a ThinkGeek t-shirt with a picture of Einstein with a Che Guevara hat the label “Viva la Relativity!”, I’d be all over that. Maybe if you grew out some wild mutton chops…
The thought of me with muttonchops is so appalling that my brain is bleeding just trying to conceive of the image.
However, that t-shirt does sound pretty cool…
Oh, yeah baby. Check it out: http://www.thinkgeek.com/images/products/front/vivala_relativity.jpg
By the way, the Verisign security for Subterranean Press is expired. It might put people with actual money or credit off their prospective purchase.
Yeah, I’ll mention that to Bill.
I can’t order it now. I’m moving in three weeks to San Francisco proper, and I don’t know what any of my addresses will be, not a PO Box, not a street address, or even a work address. I wish I could, because I would love Penny Arcade, and I’ve contributed to Child’s Play, and Athena is a girl who obviously will enjoy the academic challenges of college life once she gets there.

Heh. I’m sure you could call/e-mail Subterranean Press and ask them to hold off mailing it until you have an address — it’s a small enough press that they might actually do that for you.
I could try having it sent to my parents house, I guess. Hrm. That’s an idea.
It’s probably not available through Barnes and Noble, is it? Because I’ve been making my contract design jobs pay me with Barnes and Noble gift certificates. I’m probably going to get Old Man’s War with one of them.
It’s not available there yet, although it probably should show up on their system at some point — it already has an ISBN number and such. I know it’s on the Amazon system, for what little good that bit of information does you.

Okay. I got it..and eet is going to the ‘rents haus. (I also had to take a screenshot of the order screen since my printer is broken.)
PS. I hope Athena enjoys college.
Ha! Well, for that matter, so do I.
Sweet. Got my preorder in at the 11th hour for the Special Super Secret Scalzi Gift. Good thing I looked at the site today, or I would’ve missed out.

Well, we wouldn’t have wanted that!
I find myself wondering if the SSSSG is actually a certificate that proclaims the recipient to be an Official Scalzi Sycophant™ under John’s thrall.

Hey John,
I know you’ve been rather subtle about book sales :), but I wondered if you had some idea of how many books you’ve sold thus far in all venues put together? It seems like the book is doing quite well.

With awesome Procrastinating Grip!
Tom: Dunno the exact figures at the moment. Enough that Subterranean is pleased with early sales.
Just read Old Man’s War. Excellent as an middle aged man who grew up on Star Trek I found your book fun for all us aging men!
Glad you liked it, Rocco!

Yeah, but it’s being able to pull fully fleshed publishing contracts out of the dolls ass at will that makes it the favorite amongst the kiddies!
