See? This is how Jake Lloyd should have been.

Update: Athena’s lightsaber’s been upgraded, courtesy of Eric Buhler. Thanks, Eric!

  1. Great pic. I remember being a kid and one of the bigger kids on my block telling me that the scientists had actually figured out how to make lightsabers and that his parents had ordered him one. I was so jealous I thought I was going to die. To this day I’m still dissapointed ;)

I’m not a fanatic, but I do still wish I was a Jedi.

  2. I knew a guy in grad school who, after finishing his degree, decided to embark on training to be a Jedi. PE classes, i.e., fencing, as well as classes in the philosophy/religion and psychology (for the mindtricks, I believe).

Hmm. Wonder how that worked out for him?

  3. Jim: Athena’s the Bad Guy here. You can tell because her lightsabre is red.

It easier to tell the bad guys from the good in the dark it makes.

  4. WHY was every other word in that movie “plain english” but they couldn’t call children children? THAT’s what I want to know…

  5. I can’t tell you how many times I heard that when I was in school. Never mind that it’s “Bueller” in the movie. It’s all good.

  6. WHY was every other word in that movie “plain english” but they couldn’t call children children? THAT’s what I want to know…

My conclusion was that Lucas was too chicken to call child-killing by its name, even when it’s right in front of us.

Well, not to get TOO geeky… but I tended to imagine that Youngling was not really just another word for Child, but was instead more a term for the youngest “rank” of Jedi, prior to being referred to as a Padawan for example… Younglings, from what we saw, were taught in groups, and perhaps did not have a single Master/Mentor in the Master/Padawan setup…

But that’s just my opinion really.
