Ugh

Amazingly bad work day, a tornado watch and power out for more than an hour. Looks like I picked the wrong day to stop huffing freon.

That’s all I’m going to say about that. See you tomorrow. Until then, consider this an open thread.

  1. If you are of my opinion, almost any ‘work day’ is a bad one. Then again, that may be more my lack of zeal for what I do than anything. Unfortunately here in Chicago, the weather is not looking to turn any better. The temperature has dropped, the rain is drizzling down, only to give way to snow later. Oh what a dreary Tuesday.

  2. I enjoy watching Arrested Development in the UK (Season 2 currently on BBC4, and downloading Season 3). I understand that S3 has been reduced to 13 episodes. What I can’t understand is how Fox can get away with playing 2 episodes on 6 Nov (after a noticeable break) and then waiting until 5 Dec to show another two.

How on earth can you build an audience with three TX dates in almost three months?

Is there some logic to this I’m missing, is Fox’s behaviour considered normal in US TV scheduling, or were they trying to kill it all along?

Hope this isn’t ‘too’ open! Whatever readers are wise old souls.

  3. Brought back Futurama along with Family Guy, if memory serves. Don’t watch TV much myself, but I know several of my friends were very pleased on both points when they found out.

  4. A nucleus of an atom (protons/neutrons) takes up only 1/trillion of the space encompassed by the atom. I didn’t make that up.

  5. Love the Airplane! reference. One of my all-time favorites…

“The hell I don’t. LISTEN KID. I’ve been hearing that crap ever since I was at UCLA. I’m out there busting my buns every night. Tell your old man to drag Walton and Lanier up and down the court for 48 minutes.”

  6. C’mon, John, your writing is your bread and butter. Invest in a UPS and maybe a small generator. Then you’d be up and at least writing, if not online, during these ridiculous outages.

Says the guy that works in IT in a town notorious for bad power…

  7. I used to work with some dudes who huffed freon… it was a terrifying thing to watch, and I thought the guy was gonna pass out- ’twas the only time I ever slapped someone I wasn’t mad at.
