Readercon in July

rclogo.gif

Note to stalkers: I’ll be at Readercon 17 this July 7-9, because, what can I say, I’m a big, fat China Mieville fanboy. I’m still trying to decide if I can make Confluence, because I hear good things about it, and the convention also dispatched someone to Wiscon to ask me to come, which I thought was a really nice touch. But that would be two conventions in one month, and also, if I don’t have The Last Colony finished by then, I may be a hunted man, with legions of Tor editors nipping at my heels. So we’ll have to see. At least it’s at the end of July; I had thought it was the weekend right after Readercon, and that would have been a little much.

  1. Hmm… that didn’t work at all…

    That should have been… His/Her name is ((insert name of frequent commenter one wishes to insult)).

    Must’ve used the wrong parenthetical device.

  2. That’s the danger of writing, Q. Sometimes we use the wrong parenthetical device.

  3. Oh! I’m a China fangirl. I want a China sighting. So I have envy. I’d go, but I’m currently broke. Well, okay, that’s sort of overstating the case. I’m not broke. But I’m broke in the sense that I’ve already spent all of my disposable income for 2006.

  4. Woo hoo! I’ll be there too. I look forward to your panel discussions. I’m sure they will be as interesting and insightful as the discussion “tea parties” in SF.

  5. Yeah… it wasn’t rocket science. Which clearly was the problem, as rocket science is what I do.

  6. Hmmm….Jim Grimsley will be at Confluence.

    Suggestion – it’s absolutely OK to drive out Saturday morning and drive back on Sunday (you live a little over four hours from the Confluence hotel–Confluence is in the far western suburbs of Pittsburgh). You don’t have to be there for the whole weekend if you have time constraints. Try to let me know soon as I’ll be doing a lot of the scheduling this week.

  7. Aw, man…I think my boyfriend’s band is performing at Confluence, but they’re talking about going on Friday and returning Saturday because of other commitments…

    Wow, I won’t ask how… ;->

    When I met China at Con Jose, I told him that I found Perdido Street Station extremely disturbing but I couldn’t put it down.
