The Sagan Diary is Shipping

On the Subterranean Press site I read that “The Sagan Diary” is now out — w00t! — and Bill Schafer tells me that preorders are heading into the mail Monday or Tuesday. So those of you who ordered early, your wait is almost over.

If you haven’t ordered a copy yet, you can pick it up at Subterranean and at Amazon, and I’m sure that it will be presently available from your favorite book sellers as well — just ask them for it. I should note that if you’re interested in the signed, limited edition you can’t get it through Amazon; Amazon has it listed, but that’s apparently an error (you can get the standard trade edition, however).

I’ll also note to you that next week we’re going to have something very special to celebrate the release of “The Sagan Diary” — I can’t tell you yet what it is, but I can tell you I’m so excited about it I think I may just pop. And I think you’re going to like it a lot too. Just you wait.

    I think I just did.

Oh, wait, am I sharing too much? :)

Congrats, John. And also a big shout out to Subterranean for being the zaffo cool froods they are about this whole project.

  2. So I’ve read The Old Man’s War and the am currenlty working on The Ghost Brigades. Is this the next in the series that I should read? I’m confuuuuuuuused…………… Where does The Last Colony fit in all this?

  3. I gots my “QFAS” today along with “Missile Gap” by Charles “Who’d Luv a nice Whiskey, then?” Stross. Got it as part of the Saveing Sam Sale!

And the timing is perfect as the movers and packers packed up my guilt stack and the stuff I as currently working on! Woot! Timing! Woot!

  4. Brent:

This fits in between Ghost Brigades and The Last Colony. It’s a novelette as opposed to a novel, and if you go from TGB to TLC without reading this, you’ll be fine. If you do read this before reading TLC, however. you’ll probably notice some resonances which might otherwise go unnoted.

  5. can’t wait to get it! i managed to order my limited edition just in time. of course i still need to read ghost brigades first…

just finished TAD yesterday john, it was brilliant. you are indeed one of the masters!

  7. Hi John. Over at my blog, I’m currently holding a giveaway for the review ARC I received of The Sagan Diary for any prospective reviewers. If any of your readers is interested, please head on over and tell me why I should send it to you. Cheers.

  8. > I can’t tell you yet what it is.

Ok, time to start guessing everyone!

The Weinsteins are making it into a movie, starring Scarlett Johansson!

    //Mmmm… Scarlett Johansson
///Mmmm… Scarlett Johansson with green skin!

  9. John,

Any possibility you might could twist a few arms over at Subterranean and convince them to sell The Sagan Diaries as a .pdf?

For that matter, any word on ebooks from your publisher?

  10. By the by, I got my wife to read OMW and she loved it. I went out of my way – i.e. used her cell phone – to order TGB for her. Now she says that our moving is a higher priority than getting the book.

    Really.

  11. Dan, now if you would have said “Scarlet Johansson with green skin and cookies in Vienna with sausages and doughnuts” I could get behind that. But, pastry? That just ruined it for me.

  12. “Next week we are going to have something very special…”

We being the readers of Whatever I hope? I don’t need to look elsewhere for my popping good news?

  13. Scarlet Johansson in the Conservatory with the Lead Pipe!

Aw, crap, I’m playing the wrong game again.

  14. I just finished Old Man’s War this morning, and in fact I woke up early before work in order to finish it. It’s by far one of the most fascinating books I have had the pleasure to read in the last few years. It’s very rare that a book so captivates me as this book did. I found that, if I were allowed the time, I couldn’t even put it down. Since I’m in college there was a point where I couldn’t read for about four days and almost went insane because I so desperately wanted to read it.
I will be acquiring your other books soon, and writing a review on my blog at some point in the future. Not that I’m as qualified as professional critics, but whatever.
    Anyway, thanks for the read!

  15. I tried looking at amazon.co.uk, but they just told me that it was not available, but on amazon.com I could preoder it.

I just checked again and with both editions they say:
“We are currently unable to offer this title. It may be out of stock with the publisher or out of print. If you would like to purchase this title, we recommend that you occasionally check this page to see if it has become available.”

    Nothing for us Europeans? *sulk*

Amazon.at claims the book is available. It is 38.00 EUR which is quite expensive but it is available.

  17. Man. I just checked the US price at Amazon.com USD 13.60. EUR 38,00 is almost USD 50.00. I am…rather…confused.
I can buy the book in the US and have the wife mail it to me for cheaper that this.
Oh. Thats what I do anyways. :D

    Carry on folks!

  18. Congrats. I’m looking forward to TSD. I ordered the limited edition and can’t wait. I’ve also got Questions For A Soldier ordered.
