God, just wonderful! I went ballroom dancing Friday night and Sunday afternoon. I had a date that started Saturday afternoon, and went on all night! He made breakfast… And the rest of the time I was reading The Android’s Dream.
I studied for my test in my “Information Environment” class (i.e. – libraries 101) and read a few chapters of The Terror by Dan Simmons. Met some nice folks at a party so all in all it was productive and fun.
I somehow contracted pinkeye in both eyes, then went and saw Ghost Rider. So yeah. It’s been um … delightful.
I have a test Monday afternoon that I haven’t studied enough for. Also a fair amount of undone homework.
On the other hand, I slept a lot. And my aikido rolls are not as bad as they used to be.
I was in a hotel in Boston watching some madman go off on a tear…
About 4K words on my novel, so I’m happy.
Tiring. On the other hand, I finished a short, outlined three others, and worked on an outline for a weird-ass thing I might write, so it wasn’t all bad.
I spent it north of the city chipping my car out of a mound of ice.
I slept three and a half hour, worked both Saturday and Sunday at gas station and watched “World Trade Center” on a caffein high.
Mixed emotions, really…
Went to two parties, damaged my hearing by yet another tiny increment, posted an emo whine in my LiveJournal, slept a lot and did a little homework.
Finished reading The Sagan Dairy this afternoon -pretty intense! Another hit from Scalzi! Also worked on updating one of my websites with images taken with my Nikon D80 DSLR after doing a bit of raw image conversion in the Photoshop CS3 beta. Also watched most of the Daytona 500- just because my girlfriend was there in person- which turned out to be kind of exciting in a slam-bang kind of way. Can’t wait to hear how things went at Boskone- I swear I’ll have to make it up there for it one of these years.
I finished reading The Dispossessed (Ursula le Guin). One of the most impressive books I’ve ever read.
Other than that, I started playing The Battle for Middle Earth. It seems very good.
Glad Boskone went well for you.
I went book shopping in the 1st District. I did see OMW on the shelf. Goes to show that even Austria can be cool..
I started reading a Stephen King novel “Dreamcatcher”. I haven’t picked one up since I have already burned through 475 pages. I also went to the Botanical Gardens on the Belvedere palace grounds and went into Belvedere to see the art museum. After that it was all about Saum Brau for beers and ribs!

D’oh! I meant The Battle for Middle Earth 2.
(I found the special edition, used, for 20 Euros, BTW. Lucky me!)
Grrr! Stupid work-firewall didn’t let me send the message the first time, so I had to re-type it and was so irritated by it that I forgot the number 2 in the title.
I also got a bit further in Beyong Good and Evil and got to a boss, which kept killing me, so I’ll pick it up again some day when I have the patience to try the same fight several times before managing to win.
Excellent – my brother and his wife saw the birth of their first child. I’m a nuncle!
Wrote some, cleaned more, slept lots, tried to get my snark back.
Sucked.
Made it forty-five minutes of the way to Boskone but turned back because of my wife’s 101.8 temperature. Child also sick. So Saturday was spent wandering around the new Whole Foods grumbling. The night was spent the same.
Oh, The Sagan Diaries finally came. A good thing. I showed my wife my name in D Company. She said ti was a nice thing to do. I agree. Thanks, John.
Woke up Sunday with my own fever, so perhaps it’s best that I didn’t go to Boskone? I don’t know. Spent the day on the couch watching Sponge Bob and the night watching King Kong.
This was probably my least favorite weekend in a long time.
I spent my weekend at a retreat centre on the Irish coast. The weather was lovely the whole time: cool but not chilly; blue skies and mild breezes. On Saturday, my group and I went sea-glass hunting along the beach and then took a hike along a waterfall trail.
Today, I’m going out to lunch with a fellow geek, which is exciting because I’ve been in withdrawl since I crossed the pond.
So yes, my weekend went very well, thanks for asking. I’m glad Boskone was good times.
1.) Page 51 of the Ghost Brigades was AWESOME John!
2.) I learend an F-ton about blogs. Sort-of…
well.. not really.
3.) I learned that no matter how much you adore your best friend they will always let you down taking your picture with someone you regard as important or special.
However, they will make it up to you by politely cornering GRRM, and getting him to sign a first edition Game of Thrones.
Summary: Boskone was awesome.
I worked both days and proofed two-thirds of the galleys for my book. Then my eyes exploded from the sheer tedium of it.
cherie priest, why on earth did you go see Ghost Rider? I mean, did you give yourself pinkeye on purpose in order to see it? Yech.
Played Scrabble en français Friday, ate sushi Saturday, and gamed (rpg) Sunday.
Good stuff. Gorgeous weather here in Austin. I spent time with my wife & kids, ate very well (one meal after another, it seemed like), got in good workouts each day, made a couple of blog posts I thought were good, corresponded with friends, read a chunk, wrote a little . . . good times overall.
The best news for me: while the rest of my household is back to the grind today, my own office is closed for P-Day, so I get to work on my own stuff in peace & quiet. Woo-hoo!
Aw, come on Chang. Nicolas Cage with attitude, in a non-riding leather jacket, snarky comments, his famous “whatchatalkingabout” take into the camera, plus skulls, chain, and burning things. What’s not to like? Not like I’m going to shell out $8, but that’s me. I’d rather be riding my bike than seeing a movie about someone else riding theirs. Of course once I can afford a bike that runs, and the weather clears a bit (wind chill, it’ll get ya).
The only good thing about Ghost Rider is Eva Mendes. Swoontastic boobosity. Yeah, you heard me. and the rest of her is nice, too.
I will never again post a comment on this blog before I’ve had my coffee!
Saturday I met with my D&D group and played some D&D. How could I neglect to mention that?! Okay, so we meet every Saturday, but there has been quite a break now, so it’s good to get gaming again.
As far as Ghost Rider goes, we plan to watch it. I mean: it’s a skeleton on fire. It has a gun and a bike. There’s no way I’m not watching that.
Ghostrider was an excellent comic. If it is a Marvel production I would expect it to be good. I have yet to be let down by a Marvel production.
Thought bubble:
.oO Well X3 was kind of a let down. Hmm..Spiderman 1 was kinda also. To much kissy kissy and not nuff webslinging. Same with X3..
But I will go see GR regardless because the English Cinema Theater is home away form home. That is if it is even released here…Perhaps that will be NEXT weekends plan!
I cut off all of my hair, went dancing, and caved to infernal work-related pressures (I bought a crackberry).
Worked all weekend. Got side-swiped on Friday night when I found out a friend I had lost touch with had died on Wednesday. My already finely honed sense of mortality just got a little sharper. As Gaiman says, “You get what anyone gets — you get a lifetime.” I’m doing my best to appreciate mine.
Omg PRHM,
Are you Britney Spears???
Jody: Know just how you feel. Last talked to my friend in July. Thought about contacting him all through the holidays, then found out last week he died on New Year’s Day.
Attend people: when you think about your friends… Call. Them.
I double that motion on keepign in touch. Just reading their blogs, etc, ain’t enough. Call and email your friends. Often.
I went to a roller derby bout .
Go team!

Crappy.
My favorite driver (Mark Martin) lost on the last lap of the Daytona 500.
My favorite golfer (Phil Mickelson) lost in a playoff in Sunday’s tournament.
And the East (I’m a Pistons fan) lost the all-star game.
Spent the weekend trying to keep those pesky zombies from ruining my unicorn barbeque.
Sick all weekend, so I read an interesting biography of Johnny Cash, watched the first part of ‘Brian Wilson presents ‘Smile”, and got caught up on TV. Man, is Battlestar Galactica laggin’. . . enough with the drama, let’s see some action!
