A Philly Moment

Seems like I just got here and I’m packing up again. Which is because, well. I was only supposed to be here for a day, anyway.
Briefly: Had a lovely time at the PSFS meeting last night. The folks seemed happy to see me, and I got to do my stomping around the stage, one-damn-tangent-after-another thing that I apparently do so well. I started off having a point and just kept losing it because something else shiny caught my brain. Now I have the slimmest of ideas what it’s like to be Eddie Izzard. But people seemed to enjoy it, or at least did not pelt me with fruit. So if you’re a science fiction writer, and you’re offered a chance to chat at a PSFS meeting, I encourage you taking the opportunity to do so.
Off to the airport soon. It’s currently snowing in Ohio; I suspect there’s a 50/50 chance I’ll be delayed or worse. Wish me luck.
Good Luck. Though if you’re reading this before you get home, apparently my tire-burning sacrifice to the Global Warming gods failed.
Yep its snowing pretty good in the Miami Valley. Supposed to ice this afternoon, hope you back before that.
I hope very much you are not stuck in an airport.
I’m in Michigan and I woke up to that white crap all over the place. Doesn’t Mother Nature know it’s only supposed to know for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with everything neatly melted away by the 26th?
Good Luck.
I meant snow. Damn these uncooperative fingers!
I hope you at least managed to have a Jim’s steak while you were there. I’m going home next weekend, and it’s one of the things I can’t wait for. South street here I come, baby!
On another note, Eddie Izzard ftw. I gotta go watch Glorious now.
Did you stomp around in heels?
Great event last night – Glad I made the trip out. If you think Eddie Izzard goes off on tangents, go see Billy Connolly when he tours again. His stories are just as good, his tangents are even more acute (obtuse?), and the accent makes it all funnier.
I had a great time last night! Thanks for being so damned entertaining!
Thoroughly enjoyed the dance routine. :>)
Come back sometime. We even kept the city clear of snow for you.

[Who survived the carb-loading coma to successfully drive home.]
It was really nice to meet you last night, and I did enjoy your talk. I made sure to tell my boyfriend he missed out by staying home. *grin*
Thanks for taking the time to visit and chat with us. It was really entertaining and fun to get a glimpse of the man behind the blog and the books.
P.S. Did you hear about the latest advancement in bacon, etc., etc.? *snicker*
Stay safe…
(Er…that is, stay safe while travelling.)
The white stuff is coming down fast and hard here in the NE Ohio section, and according to the Weather Channel, SW Ohio is also getting hit. It’s not so bad for us because we’re prepared for it (although this snow is in the “gosh it’s slippery” category). Hope it was a safe journey and everybody is okay.
I’m home and I’m fine.
It sure is pretty out there, unless you’re driving, in which case, it ain’t pretty out there.
Glad you made it home safely.
Thank you for your enjoyable talk, Mr. Scalzi.
I took a few notes and pictures last night for my friends and family who couldn’t attend (we’re all fans), but I think some Whatever readers may enjoy them too: http://gnuisance.net/blog/t/2007/psfs-scalzi07.html
David – Awesome link there! Sounds like it would have been awesome to hear Scalzi talk.
Scalzi – Next time, you’ll have to record your talk, one way or another.
For any who may have not caught the reference from early on in the talk

Of course, I could be wrong about this (darn intermittent ESP) – did you intend something else John?
That’s correct.
Thanks for coming! I think you drew the largest group of people since William Gibson (back in ought-1 or ought-2).
Everyone had a great time. I was sorry that I couldn’t hang out with you more at the diner.
P.S.
*I* thought the penguin calling the police was clever.
i enjoyed the “show” as well. glad i made it out despite my ridiculous insecurities.
and as an added bonus, i learned about bacon cat!
