Summer Vacation Schedule is Officially On

I noted earlier that I’d probably posting substantially less in the month of August, due to travel and promotional committments relating to Zoe’s Tale. Well, I’ve looked at my schedule, my writing deadlines, and my general lullishness regarding posting here at the moment, and I’ve decided that it wouldn’t hurt to actually start my “summer vacation” schedule a couple of weeks early.
So: I’m officially on my Summer Vacation Schedule through the Labor Day holiday.
What does this mean? Basically, that I’ll be posting less, which means either fewer posts or shorter (i.e., more “blog-like”) posts, depending on my mood and schedule. So there will still be stuff here, just a bit less of it, by weight and/or volume. And some days, I may not even post at all. I know! Crazy!
I suspect this will be fine by most of you, since theoretically at the end of it you’ll have another book in the pipeline (The High Castle), and I’ll be a bit more ready to, you know, blog my little brains out.
This will also give me a little time to think about where I want to go next with Whatever, because I’ve had some thoughts on it that I need to think about a bit. Maybe they will amount to nothing, or maybe not. We’ll see.
In any event, for the rest of the summer, less is more. And that’s okay. You should be out playing in the sun anyway, you know?
What? You mean you actually have to *gasp* WRITE?
;)
If less blogging is the price to pay for The High Castle, then it seems like a hell of a good deal to me.
If a tree falls in the forest, and nobody blogs it, does it make a sound?
Not good, not good at all.
I want my money back.
Or even better, a free copy of Zoe’s Tale. I’ll send you an email with my address later, ok?
Are you doing a bookstore tour for the Zoe release? If so, is there a schedule posted somewhere yet?

Swedish girls in bikinis? By all means, YES.
What COD said… will that info be showing up on the “Scheduled Appearances” page at some point?
Maybe John Scalvi would be willing to guest blog.
I’ll be noting my upcoming appearance schedule in a later post and then, yes, updating the “Scheduled Appearances” page.
Yeah, sure.
Not that I disbelieve you, but even when you said you weren’t going to blog, you did. It’s an addiction, John. Not that I’m calling for an intervention…
Have a nice vacation, John.
I have a history of saying “I’m going to be scarce around here” and then blogging a blue streak, so this is something others have noted before, Cassie.
That said, part of the reason I say it is to remind myself I have other things to do. Blogging is easy. Writing pay copy is hard.
I hope you get a lot of good writing done — whatever the form. (Bad pun not intended. Or maybe it should be. . .)
One suggestion for the post-summer approach: offer a feed that’s maybe few posts a week, whatever you think the big ones are.
It’s clear you’ve got a thriving community here, and I totally get why you need plenty of smaller posts and meta posts like this one to keep that going. But personally, I’m already involved in enough thriving communities, and would love to have a way just to get the occasional longer standalone pieces.
Out playing in the sun? The sun? It’s never stopped raining here [Manchester, UK] for the last fortnight.
Hmm why are all of John’s appearances for Zoe’s Tale next to an In and Out Burger. Methinks it is rigged.
Out in the sun? Are you nuts? It stingssssssss ussssssss precioussssssss! I burnssssssss ussssssssss!
WHATEVER
Whatever you decide to do with your time, may you find enjoyment in it.
I wish you best of luck in Whatever your endeavors may hold.
I’m OK with the less is more period we’re going into.
To tell the truth, I’ve been so busy that I haven’t really had time to check whats going on everyday anyway and then, don’t comment much since things are a couple of days old. Seems kind of Catch 22ish don’t it. Any way, do what you gotta do John. I’ll hang out and take it as it comes. Which, from the sound of things will be more great stuff to read. I’m good with that 8D
I love the Calvin strip. I miss those days when summer vacation lasted for years and it didn’t really matter what day it was. I remember taking off the watch I got for my 8th birthday on the last day of school and not putting it back on until the County Fair ended. (Usually a week before school started) I think I kept doing that for 4 or 5 years. Good times that are now 40 years in the past…. (heavy sigh)
In an alternate universe, John Scalvi posts his PhotoShoppery Summer Schedule and to waste time, writes a couple of novels. Sort of anti-catwaxing.
True story.

Heh this post reminds me of an co-worker of mine who would always make these kind of announcements before trying to quit smoking…. :-)
shall we start a betting pool for the first day that John posts more than 3 postings? His first Blogasm since his announcement? My money is on Thursday
As noted, I may very well post a fair number of entries on a single day; they’re simply likely to be quite short.
