Way Past Sunset

Two long-exposure pictures of tonight’s approaching thunderstorm:

It’ll be somewhat darker when it hits.

Pretty! I’ve set the top one as wallpaper on my computer now. I hope you don’t mind.

We could really use a proper thunderstorm here to freshen up things, BTW.

I will admit a chauvinism here. I honestly didn’t realize that skies could get so damn awesome east of the Pecos. (In regards to these and an earlier cloud picture.)

Must be the weekend for lightening storms, we had a doozie here in the Atlanta area about 7PM last night. The cloud wall was pretty impressive as it bore down from the north. Went on for several hours. The weather geeks are checking to see if we broke any local records for lightening strikes per hour, some places were topping 350-400/15 minutes.

Hard as the ground shook at one point, thought there might have been a direct hit here in the immediate neighborhood. But a quick tour around the block showed all was intact, save for a few twigs & pine cones. Which is a good thing since many areas nearby have large trees & power lines down across houses.

Today the sun is shining brightly, the last of the fog is burning off, it’s going to hit 95 and be wicked humid today.
