A series of Scalzi LOLHugos over at MightyGodKing.com:
The rest are possibly not safe for work.
Yes, yes. Laugh it up, friends. Me and my HUGO AWARD WINNING HAWESOMEOSITY can take it.
Why exactly does the Hugo look like a gold-plated dildo? Just wondering.
It’s silver, actually. Also, you know. It’s the inherent nature of rockets to look a bit phallic.
Linkie no workie: I think we may have wanged* it.
*- ‘Wanged’ is Penny Arcade’s term for Slashdotting- an unintended DOS attack on a link- does John need his own term? Ideas?
It’s back up.
“landjob” made me laugh. Well done, God King.
And now it’s down again. Interesting.
It’s interesting to see that the linked picture does not appear here, and when I attempt to go to the MightyGodKing.com web site, my employer’s filter system for the Interweb denies access because of “inappropriate content”.
It looks as if I will have to wait until I get home tonight to properly appreciate the creativity of the folks at MightyGodKing.com. Now the question becomes – can I survive the suspense and tension for that length of time?
With best wishes,

Yes, he’s a funny guy with a funny site.
And I wish Marvel would hire him to write Dr. Strange.
@Mark Terry: I ran the neo-pagan association in college. Our theme song (to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands”) was “If It’s Longer Than It’s Wide Than It’s a Phallus.”
Congrats again on your Hugo win! Montreal was great!! Are you going to Melborne or Raleigh or both next year? I’m going through Worldcon withdrawal.
Charles K. Bradley:
Haven’t solidified plans yet.
I like to instead think it’s the inherent nature of phallic items to look a bit rockety.
Awesome. Love the pics.
John @4: It’s back up.
John @6: And now it’s down again. Interesting.
Well, you know how those darn rockets can be. Is this also an inherent property?
@Christopher Hawley: Clearly a feature, not a bug.
That site is 100% win.
You just have to be careful with which one you connect the launcher’s electrical leads to. Don’t want to mix that up with other phallic things.
You know, they have pills for that sort of thing….
John, can you please make an announcement as soon as you know you’ll be coming to Worldcon 2010 in Melbourne? For you I’d fly.
MGK runs a quality house. I was just about to send this to you…
It looks more like something you just took OUT of the guy to the right…
That is, as the kids say, teh funneh.

Re: the last one… not really a viable career choice for you, John. ;)
@7 – proxies are your friend:
“Re: the last one… not really a viable career choice for you, John. ;)”
Don’t be crushing his dream.
You know, not really my dream, I have to say.
At first, I didn’t get why Wall-E was going to be so mad. Then…oh…OOOH!
Mark Terry @1:
Because even Tolerant Wife has limits — and Mr Scalzi running around in a room full of people with cameras with an award that has sharp edges is a liability nightmare?
Megan (@9): “I ran the neo-pagan association in college. Our theme song (to the tune of “If You’re Happy and You Know it Clap Your Hands”) was “If It’s Longer Than It’s Wide Than It’s a Phallus.””
I may be pleased that the above criteria makes me a phallus. I suspect this may be true for everyone, save the morbidly obese who may be wider than they are tall.
Oh! On rereading, the last one said “prostitute” – I thought it said “prostate”
Yay Mightygodking! I’ve enjoyed Chris Bird’s work since his parodies of Marvel’s Civil War series back in his LJ days.
@30: If it’s shorter than it’s wide, then you turn it on it’s side
Now it’s longer than it’s wide and it’s a phallus!
So, what we’ve learned from this comment thread is that we’re all dicks?
Woohoo. I think. o.O
I’m glad to see my wife’s “Heckle Scalzi!” picture made it back to the source.
Even if Bird had to modify it first.
Hugo of Steel, Scalzi of Kleenex.
If you enjoyed the stuff on the front page of MGK’s site, and you haven’t yet seen his classic SF cover parodies, you really need to check them out:
Off-topic, I just ordered MEATropolis. I can’t wait to see how the top SF writers of today handle writing about a city of meat. Promises to be fascinating.
Congatulations again! Well done! :)
I was going to ask what you did to poor Frank Wu to make him scream like that, but upon further review, I have decided not to.
