The lead singer’s pants are AWESOME.
I don’t know about “needing” them, but not bad. And, as for your later comment, whatever keeps the wolves at bay.
No, honestly, John, I don’t think I could ever user some Psychedelic Furs. Or even look as though I could.
Fortunately, the video is blocked by my workplace, so I don’t know which song it was, but I will state for the record that if I never hear “Love My Way” again, I will be very happy.
Lovely song, interesting video. Ah the days when MTV actually showed music videos.
If you’re into that kind of thing, look for William Orbit’s version of “Love My Way”… it’s truly lovely.
I was expecting a picture of your cat wigging out on catnip, with completely dialated pupils.
But this is cool too.
I’m not sure I need Psychedelic Furs as much I need a vacation, but each to their own.
How about a Pretty in Pink video without clips of Molly Ringwald. (It’s from Top of the Pops)
Not sure if I can use ’em, but I know I’m going to get ’em. I’m being dragged to Philly (from NYC) to see them w/ the Happy Mondays.
Really hope it’s not as 80s as the video!
I don’t know who this other ‘Jamie’ is up top, but he’s obviously not a proper child of the 80s.
Richard Butler isn’t wearing anything unusual for the decade and genre.
This video is also a good response to anyone who wonders why British people don’t sing with British accents
I have a rare opportunity to not write pay copy today…at least not contract copy, although I do hope to get paid for these projects some day. Happy writing!
Exactly what the Author ordered.
Man, that’s just freaky. How the hell can you see me all the way in Ohio?
Also, I’d really like to know what my “I need me some Psychedelic Furs, and I need it now” face looks like. I’m guessing “not pretty”.
A pretty in pink video without Molly Ringwald? That would be so wrong.
Cheers
Andrew
P.S. Just received my signed copy of “Hate Mail”. Got halfway through it in one night; really good, even though I have read most of the entries before. I get a lot of stick for my bad signature. Yours is much worse.
Ah, The Furs. This is one of those things I needed withoug actually knowing I was needing it. It was an empty, nameless Furs-shaped space in my soul that you filled. Thanks.
Actually, one of the best live bands I ever saw in the 80’s. Very tight. Saw them at Hancher Auditorium in Iowa City with the Screaming Blue Messiahs opening up. Freakin’ blew my mind because the Messiahs were also smoking hot.
Dig it:
wow, flashback. I remember this song! (and I also remember when MTV played actual videos)
Okay, how long has your face been hidden in the background? I just saw it and thought I’d left a cold drink sitting on my monitor (…sideways?), until I realized the ring had eyes and a nose. That’s like Antonioni’s Blow-Up freaky.
@jamie #9
It’s entirely possible that I am not a child of the 80’s… I was still a little young to get the full experience. That being said, by saying his pants are AWESOME I didn’t mean to imply they were inappropriate for that time period, I meant I enjoyed the reminder those pants presented in THIS time period.
Fashion from the 80’s look absolutely ridiculous through today’s lens… as today’s will probably look in 2020. But it certainly was fun.
Y’know, based on your apparent musical “taste”, I just can’t figure out what you listened to back there in SoCal when you were a lad. It sure as heck wasn’t KROQ and other than Journey I never heard this stuff on KLOS. I can only assume you were a KMET listener, which is just sad (except for Dr. Demento). I’m only 6 or 7 years older than you, so there can’t really be that much difference, can there?
The Psychedelic Furs weren’t a KROQ band? I’m not sure I agree 100% with your police work there, DemetriosX.
Then the Roq must have changed a lot between 1979 and 1982 or so. I remember them being a lot edgier than that. That or my memory is faulty. (Went to school with Dr. Dan the Weatherman. KROQ covered my HS graduation because of him.)
So Cal 80’s girl here (my high school years) – love the Psychadelic Furs (who, incidentally, were definitely a KROQ band).
Yes, I did need some Furs and thank you for that.
The Furs are playing 15 minutes from my house in a month or so, if I remember correctly. I have this urge to go see them…
Is that Big John Wayne on the xylophone? Who’s that on vibes?
Richard Butler is my neighbor. Srsly.
