There it is for you. Not much, and it may not last the day (it’s supposed to get into the mid-30s), but it qualifies. Yes, I know some of you have had more and earlier snow, but remember, it’s not a race.

I hear that light dusting made it pretty slippery for driving this morning. It seems like every eyar people have to re-learn how to deal with that.
I didn’t expect to get *milder* weather by staying in Ann Arbor today, but we do not have snow in Michigan.
I know that it is off the topic, but I would like to remind everyone that today is the 68th anniversary of Pearl Harbor Day. President Obama has ordered that the U.S. flag be flown at half staff today in honor of the brave men and women who were there. I know that today in my history classes I will teach a lesson on the events of that day and the actions of people like Dorrie Miller, cook 3rd class of the U.S.S. West Virginia who was the first African-American to be awared the Navy Cross for his actions on that day.

John: You’re making me miss Ohio. That scene has such a homey feel. The only thing missing is a line of cat pawprints in the snow.
Anne: Even here in the frozen north (Rochester) people have to re-learn how to drive in the snow each year. The advantage here is they only have to do it once per year. In Columbus they have to re-learn several times because the snow comes and goes through the winter. All things considered, I think I’ll take my chances among the Rochester drivers.
We had a light dusting on 10/5, one of the earliest times I ever remember having snow that stuck, then Saturday we had 2 1/2 wet inches of snow that wont last past Wednesday since it’s supposed to rain here.
We were visiting family in Connecticut over the weekend, and it was lovely. Came home to Western and it was still lovely.
I don’t think I have to re-learn driving in the snow each year, but they may be partly because I learned the first time during a particularly nasty winter in upstate New York. Plus, I tend to be a careful driver anyway, so only the details change, not the attitude.

Wait, it’s not a race. Oh man, I miss understood that whole thing when I moved into the snow belt. Damn.
Shudder!! Snow! Just what I moved to South Carolina to get away from!
Not so much in Singapore yet. I have my skis out just in case.
We got a good 5 inches in DC on Saturday. It snowed just about the entire day. I expected it to melt away yesterday, but it’s stubbornly sticking around.
We had flurries Friday night in Tuscaloosa. About 2am, big wet flakes that melted practically before they hit my windshield, but it was snow. This vindicated everyone who rushed out and stocked up on bread and milk (NOT!).
For a state smaller than Greater L.A. County, Rhode Island can have some seriously variant weather. The first post-summer snowfall happened here back on October 16, though it only occurred in the north-western part of the state – the so-called “Worcester Storm Track”. Nearer the bay, we had rain. The first state-wide snowfall was Saturday night, giving a thin blanket which is mostly gone, except for some nasty icy patches just where we don’t want them. Frankly, it wasn’t a pretty snowfall. I’ll look at your picture and pretend it’s here.

As I get older, I enjoy snow less because more people I know complain about it. Sucks all the fun out of it. Soon, I’ll be old…
Raining here in San Diego. So more snow is on the way. 3 or 4 days would be my ETA. A nice steady rain, not all stormy and nasty.
Surprisingly enough, we almost tied you here. The hills behind my house have snow.
A bit shocking given that I live in the San Francisco East Bay.
This is why it’s perfect for me to live north of Seattle.
If I want to play in the snow, I drive 20-30 miles up into the Cascade Mtn’s, play in the snow, leave it there, then come home. I’ve had to shovel my walk 2 maybe 3 times in the last 10 years. Last year was a bit of an outlier, snow and ice everywhere.
On the “relearning to drive in snow” issue. We seem to need to do that here every year also. What I don’t understand is why we seem to need to relearn how to drive in rain. You’d think we’d be better at it since it rains all the time up here.
The locals blame the Californians that moved up here for that. I’m not buying it…
All of your complaining about people having to re-learn how to drive in the snow, stay away from the Denver area. These pinheads seem to need to re-learn how to drive every time it *rains!*
Oooh, oooh, we got some in northern California overnight. In the 30 years I’ve lived here this is only the third time it’s snowed in Marin county, and the first in December…
of course it’s a freak of nature and won’t stick around for long, but it sure is pretty!

I’m with @23: I’m in Contra Costa County, east of SF and hadn’t seen more than the tiniest flurry at my house in 35 years. Kids had a grand time with it. I was mighty late to work, but – heck – I work for myself, so I was gentle on myself.
Shockingly, Houston beat Ohio to having snow this year (and, for at least a brief period of time, we actually had more snow than Chicago). Of course, the fact that snow–not first snow, just snow–is front-page news here indicates well enough our relative positions. Not to mention the whole multi-year gaps between snow falls thing.
It snowed here for the first time today. The snow line was down to about 4,000 feet at one point, though it later rose to about 6,000 feet. As a result most of the snow got rained away.
That’s right, in San Diego County snow gets called on account of rain.
