Heading Out

And now I’m off for a month and a half. You kids have fun, take care — and take care of each other, okay? I’ll see you in September, on the 12th anniversary of Whatever.

Until then,

JS

  1. Enjoy the time off. As much as I enjoy your posts, I’m looking forward to your guest bloggers.

  2. Have a good one, Scalzi. We’ll all be here when you return. Looking at that cat your couch on the other hand…

  3. Enjoy! Thanks for setting us up with alts while you’re gone. And remember, absence makes the heart grow fonder, so keep a closer eye out for stalkers.

  4. O Great Scalzi, what a great picture to kick-off your much appreciated absence!

We reluctantly accept the Photoshopping because – for a change – it works. Outstanding. The black and white plus soft vignetting really serves to highlight the well-focused and well-centered Superb She Who Is Illuminating Reality and Is Pondering the Excellence of Your Absence From the Interwebs.

There is even a bit of poignance in Her that you are not actually removing yourself from Her Presence.

    Well done.

  5. bye john…. rest up and come back soon :(
(single tear trailing down my cheek)

  6. Well, your guest bloggers are certainly good-looking people. And I guess at least one of them must be a pretty good writer, since she has a Hugo and stuff.

I want to know if they have beautiful cats. I want to know if they have a tolerant wife (who is tolerant) or husband (who is also tolerant). I want to know if they have a brilliant, funny, and lovely daughter. I want to know if they have a stunning talent for beautiful photographs.

If not…do they have talents you lack? Because that would make up for it, a little.

Seriously, we’ll miss you. Have a good time.

  7. awww. what an adorable photo. See you soon John!

Well… you won’t see ME, but if you get curious about the ice cream truck thats been parked outside your home for 3 weeks, well… lets just say you’d be surprised how many rocket-pops you can eat and not die.

  8. Have a great… I hesitate to call it a vacation when you’re going to be working. Looking forward to the report when you’re back.

  9. “Now you kids behave yourselves and don’t stay up too late. And keep out of the liquor cabinet. And mind the babysitter. And don’t touch the gun collection. And NO PORN on the computers.”

  10. Sad to see ya go. I’m shipping out to Afghanistan soon, so I guess this is the last Scalzi post I get to read for at least a year. Hope you have a productive break.

  11. Amazingly I am sure there are some people who will be overwhelmed with depression. Enjoy your time off.

  12. Hey, he needs it. Do you have any idea how much work it is to keep this going? It’s cool to have a fun job, but eventually, you realize…. It’s a job.. A cool job, but still a job.. And thats why you get paid to do it.

I think this is a test to see how much traffic the site gets while Scalzi is gone. Right now its not looking to good.

Its going to be a slow 6 weeks. I hope not.
