Patrick Rothfuss’ Worldbuilders Drive, 2010

Since I taunted all y’all with pictures of Pat Rothfuss’ upcoming book (and ARC of which, apparently, I received before he did, which is just plain wrong, if you ask me, not that I’m giving up my copy), I think it’s incumbent upon me to also make note of Pat’s Worldbuilders fundraiser, to support Heifers International. As Pat notes:
Heifer International is my favorite charity. It helps people raise themselves up out of poverty and starvation. All over the world Heifer promotes education, sustainable agriculture, and local industry.
They don’t just keep kids from starving, they make it so families can take care of themselves. They give goats, sheep, and chickens to families so their children have milk to drink, warm clothes to wear, and eggs to eat.
It works three ways:
1. For every $10 you donate through Worldbuilders, you’re entered into a lottery with literally hundreds of fabulous prizes, including signed editions of books from many if not most of your favorite spec fic authors — plus your donation is matched 50% (which means for every $10 you donate, $5 is added on). The more you donate, the more chances you have to win. Or —
2. You can also just buy cool stuff from Worldbuilders, with all proceeds going to Heifer International. Or —
3. For those of you who like bidding, there are auctions, with stuff from Neil Gaiman, Brandon Sanderson, Brett Favre and others.
This week is the last week of the Worldbuilders charity drive for this year, so if you want to get in on this sort of rich, creamy charitable goodness, now’s the time. Good luck and thanks in advance for doing some good.
Thanks for plugging this, John. I was wondering just this morning where I could share the wealth. This’ll work just fine.
(spellcheck: Favre.)
Fixed, although EVERYONE PRONOUNCES IT “FARVE.” Americans, man.
I appreciate the note. This will be my 13 year old son’s first official donation. It has been hard finding something he approved of. Thanks!
Donated.
Heifer International is one of my favorite charities as well.
Last year I put in $40 and won an entire book series! This charity works towards a great cause and you have a decent chance of winning some great prizes. You also get the added bonus of making P-Roth happy. How can you lose?
Thanks for mentioning this charity, did not know about it before this post. Popped over and donated.
It’s not a Rothfuss sized affair, but I am running a comment-a-thon to support Heifer through Wednesday (12/22), and will match donations for anyone who missed their chance with Worldbuilders! ;) Merry Christmas!
