I saw a light pillar going to work the other day. Unfortunately there were a lot buildings and stuff in the way.

htom @3, John @4: Sleeping in seems a good deterrent against possible low-altitude sundogs. If they are truly picturesque, I’m sure Daisy will have posted them to John’s fl*ckr acc’t within the hour of [their] first sighting.
Once again the planetary defenses fired at the incoming kinetic weapons. An actinic flash followed by a loud crack as the air tried to keep up with the expanding atmosphere, heated by the massive ray of energy. And again! They keep firing as the colossal rocky masses race to impact the earth. So hard to sleep…
