  1. Sneak up and grab him and go “BLBPBLBPBLBPT” on his belly. (You’ll probably want to lint-roll your lips, then.)

  2. Full-spread. All four points showing. Nice straight position. Forepaws together. I’d say this has at least a 3.0 difficulty.

Add face plant, especially a full-on face plant with both ears folded, would put this nap well into the 3.5 difficulty range.

    Well done.

On the upside, it’ll probably be easier to lint roll his lips after Lopsided Cat removes John’s face from his skull for disturbing his nap. So there’s that.

  4. Your cat’s underbelly is the EXACT COLOUR of a Golden Gaytime icecream.

I just felt a need to point that out.

  5. Full Otter, Supine, excellent lower quad extension. Beautiful Although the slight port side twist and a less than centered tail will cost this napper on points.

Judges give it an 8.5, plus .5 for near perfect cushion centering — a very difficult position, especially for a lopsided cat. Well done, Lopsided, well done.

  6. In my house, that’s called “dead cat” pose. About a month after I adopted my cat, my girlfriend woke me up by poking me in bed and whispering “Look! Dead cat!”, with the implication “look how cute she is”.

I was still half-asleep, and interpreted “dead cat” literally. I sat bolt upright and was instantly awake. “What?! What happened?!”

  7. Hey, Scalzi-sensei,

    Good pic of Lopsided Cat-san.

Just wondering how many koku a daimyo like you has to pay for the services of such a cat?

    Later, man.

  8. Happy cat. I’m surprised Chang (not Chang) hasn’t weighed in yet on the relative merits of your cat photography.

  9. Yeah, its just not a cat photo without Chang who is not that Chang’s findings from the cat worshipping committe…..

  10. That is the most relaxed cat I’ve seen in ages. You need to tell him about the following panel at the upcoming Kalamazoo Medieval Studies Congress:

    “Thursday 7:30 p.m. Session 157 (Schneider 1280)
Vair, Able, Phoenix, and Kitty-Cat: Desire and Reality in Medieval Fur Fashions
Sarah-Grace Heller, Ohio State Univ. “

  11. Despite the focus being on the awesomeness of cat attitude and schooling in the nap department, I agree with CTJen, and must admit that you have a pretty bitchin’ chair there. Super jealous. Just sayin…

  12. Your cat is an amateur. My cat could teach your cat a thing or two. I suggest much more practice. Go hard at it and you’ll be a pro in no time, LC.
