Look, I Don’t Want to Tell You Your Business —

— But if you happen to be up at midnight Eastern time, you definitely want to come round here.

In fact, if you’re not up at midnight Eastern time, you might want to set your alarm clock so you can wake up and be here at that time.

I’m not saying that what will be here at that time will change your life forever. It might not. But then again, maybe it will. You never know.

All I’m saying is: Hey, round midnight, Eastern? You might want to swing by.

That’s all.

I’m always up at that time anyways – on patrol. You know, fighting evil-doers and whatnot. I’ll make a point of logging in from the mobile command center, unless the sidekick gets kidnapped. *Again*.

Dammit, Scalzi. My time is valuable. And, midnight is when I tend to dispose of.. umm… “certain things.” And, let’s face it, those shallow graves don’t dig themselves, ya know.

Question: Should I tell my best friend about this post? Or should I be a greedy little pig and keep it all to myself..

Guess that would be questions.. heh.. Don’t judge! I haven’t had coffee yet..

Hmm. Movie-related announcement would be most cool. But tomorrow is also the official release of Fuzzy Nation, so I’m thinking a book promo of some sort is more likely. Perhaps a time-limited special deal for Whatever / Tor readers?

Easier for me, being in the Pacific Time Zone. Tho I am terribly jealous that your birthday starts earlier than mine, for the same reason.

See you at 9 p.m. PST!

Hmmmm… small problem with being here at midnight is that I work at 7:00 AM. Do I risk being grumpy from not enough sleep, or do I risk waiting til 5:30 AM to see what the fuss is about. Decisions, decisions.

Will there be cake? If there’s cake I’ll stay up.

Hm…let me check my calendar…. hmm, May the Fourth was last week, this weekend is the Memphis in May Barbecue Cooking Contest and the zombie walk is the 27th – nope, looks like I’m free- why? Is there something going on tomorrow?

It begins to tell,
’round midnight, midnight.
I do pretty well, till after sundown,
Suppertime I’m feelin’ sad;
But it really gets bad,
’round midnight.

Memories always start ’round midnight
Haven’t got the heart to stand those memories,
When my heart is still with you,
And ol’ midnight knows it, too.
When a quarrel we had needs mending,
Does it mean that our love is ending.
Darlin’ I need you, lately I find
You’re out of my heart,
And I’m out of my mind.

Let our hearts take wings’
’round midnight, midnight
Let the angels sing,
for your returning.
Till our love is safe and sound.
And old midnight comes around.

– Thelonious Monk. ‘Round midnight

I’m a literal sort… you mean “here” as in the Whatever blog, right? Because having several thousand fans show up at your house at midnight is going to freak family, neighbors, and the county police. If you do want us to show up is it formal dress? Or favorite alien? (I put dibs on Gort.)

I’ll be here, although that is way past my bedtime (5 am comes early). Maybe I can just make it the first of my two nightly trips.
@28 John Mark – maybe the Scalzi rapture, or perhaps we will all get on the Ark – along with the stackable dinosaurs, of course.
@32 Caladan – nice rhyme! It zings –

Fuzzy Nation, wrapped in bacon
Zoe’s Tale, now on sale
Old Man’s War, gave us more
Android’s Dream, it’s the cream.

Louise @ 41 come on do you really think that’s possible? He could post an image of her in repose on a silk pillow painted by Rembrant himself and Chang would still take issue with the brush marks 8)

You know, you better have a very sturdy server to make sure things don’t fold under the weight of everyone hitting “refresh” every few seconds.

I felt a great disturbance in the Force, as if millions of voices suddenly cried out in terror… I feel the server might be down.

Now I have to set my alarm clock twice. Isn’t it enough that I’m coming to see you at Books & Co tomorrow, and I’ve told all my friends to come, too? Oh well, as long as there will be pie!
