For my pal Deven, whose birthday is today. He likes Steely Dan! And so do I.
Also, I got him a pony. Boy, are they hard to mail. Just so you know.

Hey, it’s my birthday too. And it is NOT that hard to mail a pony. One pony will go into 135 Priority Mail Flat Rate boxes, easy.
John Barnes: Do I even want to know how you know this?
:-)
It’s the reassembly on the other end that’s the problem, though.
Thanks, John. One the best parts of my birthday is your post.
Did you also give him a bottle of grapefruit wine?
It’s so hard to find a bottle of good grapefruit wine these days.
No, reassembly is easy if you just number all corresponding surfaces. It’s after reassembly that you start getting complaints.
Fondness for Steely Dan doesn’t bond me with as many people as it used to.
Can’t you just send it via Pony Express?
The truth is that there is no pony…
Can I join the party? It’s my birthday too (63)….
I’m still reconstituting my Steely Dan collection, but this was one of the first songs I downloaded.
What? No Bodhisatva?
FM – one of my favorite Steely Dan songs. I even bought Gold just to get this song since it was not available on any of their studio albums (all of which either I or my roommate at the time had – even though much of our taste was diametrically opposed, SD was one area of agreement) – this was substantially pre-downloadable music in either its illegal or legal forms.
It was my birthday too. Thanks! (yes I’m appropriating…)
