The first time I saw an ice pillar it was dark. There were three of them, and I had no idea what they were.
I called my brother, who was studying for a Ph.D in atmospheric sciences, and he clued me in. My response: “Good. I thought it was the start of an alien invasion!”
For some reason this picture, among the many you have shared, stopped me and reminded me wonderful the world we live in can be.
Great photo, and extra points for the use of “crepuscular.”
