Spam Storm

Just a note:

The site is getting hit with quite a lot of spam at the moment and while the filters are getting a lot of it, other bits are getting through. Since I am about to go to sleep, it’s possible a fair amount will accumulate overnight. Don’t panic, I’ll deal with it in the morning. Thanks.

  1. I’ll bet the public opinion on waterboarding would change dramatically if we limited it to spammers and robo-callers.

  2. @ leatherneck6693

So what you’re saying is, public opinion is soft on direct marketers? :-D

  3. Waterboarding? Too good for them. I think something more on these lines….

Something lingering, with boiling oil In It, I fancy. Something of that sort. I think boiling oil occurs in it, but I’m not sure. I know it’s something humorous, but lingering, with either boiling oil or melted lead.

  4. Large room. Lots of bottles of water. Drink at least 1L of water per hour. One loo, on the far side of the room. Pathway to loo is strewn with sharp, pointy bits of Lego. Bare feet.

Why yes, I am somewhat annoyed with the phone spammers lately.

  5. We all get a certain measure of spam. Even diligent people don’t always recognize it all. Think of them as window shoppers…people who know you’re there, but they just don’t ‘buy’ anything. Please wander through my pixilated part of the forest. I sit in that cottage and wait, but few scriveners ever pass through. Scrape something on the walls…

  6. Yes, even humble little blogs like mine are being hit. I had to put my comments to moderated because so many were coming through and I didn’t want to annoy my followers with all that crap. It’s fairly easy to spot them, though; the comments are general and there is ALWAYS a link at the end…

  7. I am a Nigerian prince and if you give me your bank # I will deposit a large amount of moolah in it.

  8. John@April 10, 2013 at 7:47 am – I just received the newest variation of this Spanish Prisoner scam.

Guy claims to be a Sargent in the US Army who has come into possession of a very large amount of cash while in Iraq & really needs my help in getting it out of the country. My portion could be several million dollars, he just needs some money for bribes and my bank account number. I forwarded the email to the ‘lads from lagos’ web site (a great read if you want to kill an afternoon – these guys once scammed a scammer out of money!)

  9. Don’t knock spam, it can be educational*. Just yesterday I learnt of the existance of the Xbox Wii console.

*Today’s lesson: How to seperate lists using commas.

  10. This seems like a good place to mention some oldish spam that’s fallen through the cracks. I’ve been saving up spam threads to report when I knew you were around. (I just double-checked all of these to make sure they hadn’t yet been dealt with; the list would have been longer but you got to several of them first.)
