Interview in the San Antonio Express-News

In advance of LoneStarCon 3, the San Antonio newspaper interviewed me about Redshirts, science fiction and all manner of stuff like that. The interview, if you are curious, is available for your perusal here. Enjoy!
Too short, nothing new. Come on Scalzi, I expect you to solve the Middle East Crisis in your interviews. Or at least hunger (it doesn’t even have to be on a world scale).
How is it you speak in parentheticals?
I am amazing that way.
“The major criticism I received [about ‘Being Poor’] was that I was well off, so I didn’t know what I was talking about.”
That’s a pretty shallow criticism. Also ironic.
And to think it was all due to a coin toss. Crime or Science. Did you have an idea of a crime novel? A character? Curious now. Any interest in going there presently?
