Hi Mr Scalzi
First some praise. Redshirts had me in stitches all the way through, except for the bits that made me actually think, which were also fun ‘cos I like thinking.
However, I subscribed to your mailing list because I enjoy your writing style and imagination and agree with most if not all of your opinions and attitudes regarding politics and discrimination. But I could do without random photos of whatever (ha ha) that catches your eye at any time clogging my inbox. I don’t want to unsubscribe because I don’t want to miss out on the gems but I could do without the chaff. No insult intended.
Perhaps you could have two mailing lists, or subset your list? Can I subscribe to the weightier stuff and avoid the ephemera? Most bulk email services will allow you to subset your subscriber lists, all you need to do is add an extra check-box to your signup process.
Kind regards,
Simon
ps Fuzzy Nation was also awesome
Is that the natural lighting for the frog’s habitat? Or did you alter the colors? Regardless, pretty cool picture.
This may not be the place to mention it, but Fuzzy Nation is the Audible daily deal today – audiobook for $2.95. John may make a separate post, but if not…

Cool frog! I was at Shedd a few weeks ago. Did you see the spider crab? I’m pretty sure if it gets loose it would be a “kill it with fire” situation–they can grow up to 40 feet wide in the wild. Yikes.
Did you take any pictures of the Beluga whales? They are very photogenic and smile for everybody.
Lovely scene, great pic!
That frog is saying “It would be a very bad idea to eat me.”
Froggy!
These photos are very nice, but some of us are cranky old cusses who want WORDS! Hoping you finish your current project soon so we can get back to chatting.
Man, you are having all kinds of fun with photoshop. And not too shabby at it either.
By the way, my nickname in high school? Froggy.
Ploppy McPlop:
I have no idea how to make two lists, and even if I did I’m not likely to. The name of the site is “Whatever,” and I take that seriously — it’s whatever I happen to put up. At the moment, when I’m on deadline for a novel, it’s pictures. Once the deadline is past and I have caught up on sleep, I’ll get to other stuff. But for the moment: Pay copy comes first.
haha this tiny tiny frog seems funny actually
This looks like a Hubble image to me. The little frog is strangely cosmic.
