Don’t expect much here today. Maybe tomorrow either.
Now excuse me, I’m going to lie down and moan softly for a while.

Sympathy …
I know you’re faking, Scalzi. And it won’t work, you’ve used up all your sick days for the year already. ;)
BTW, is this the first time you’ve “called in sick” since you’ve stopped having a traditional job?
Get sick durring a snowstorm, and be forced not to shovel. Briliant, wish I had thought of it.
get well soon
Oog. You, my spouse, my spouse’s uncle, a friend… What IS this, sick week? *makes warding signs against disease; was sick in December already*
(PS: I hope all you plague rats get well soon.)
Feel better soon. And to all those of y’all north of me, stay warm! We’re getting single-digit temps in GEORGIA by Monday night, I don’t even want to think about the Midwest and New England.
“He’s a man! He has a man cold!”
You picked an excellent time to crawl under a huge stack of blankets and stay there, is all I can say. Feel better!
Judging from the description he’s either sick or getting laid.
I hope you feel better! (Or feel great, whichever it is.)
Gentle hugs, and a virtual warm blanket and chicken soup sent your way. Feel better soon (and try not to pass it to Krissy or Athena)!
When I get sick, I make myself a hot toddy (maybe more). Just heat up some apple cider. I use powdered stuff as I am cheap. Then add a spoon of honey, dash of lemon juice and some whiskey. I tend to put more whiskey in it.
Sending sympathy, wishes for a speedy recovery, and especially hopes that you don’t need to deal with frozen pipes or any other catastrophes over the next couple of days. Well, to clarify, I hope you don’t need to deal with those catastrophes at any time, but especially if you’re feeling puny.
I recommend plenty of fluids (always useful no matter what the malady is), lots of bedrest, warm fuzzy blankies to keep you cozy, and especially snuggles from the purring fur-kids. The vibration of a purring cat is an efficacious treatment for all woes, physical and emotional, so self-medicate as much as you can. If needs be, rub your chest with tuna and/or catnip to get them to cuddle up a little closer.
Get well soon, sir! Your loyal thralls and worshipful minions thirst for Your glorious light!
if you have what I have, enjoy the moaning. once you feel mostly better you’re going to go mute for two days and sound like an angry goose for 2 more.
hope you feel better soon
Or, If you have what I’m just getting over, you’ll be explosively decompressing from both ends for two days.
I hope it’s the angry goose instead :(
As someone whose cold morphed into a sinus infection that’s been lurking around since Thanksgiving, can I urge you to hit the doctor as soon as possible? That codeine cough syrup was the only thing that provided any relief. As a bonus, I now see in four dimensions. Hope you feel better soon!
Oh dear – it does seem to be that time of year! Get better soon.
Been there, done that. ‘Hope you feel well again soon, and that the rest of your family doesn’t get sick too, or at least not too sick.
sorry, John. Maybe you can get someone to bring you a burger from Phoenix Station, along with a big side of fries…….hope you feel better soon.
Sympathies, John. It’s been ugly in our household for teh sick this year as well. Just as one of us gets over having a cold (which in my case almost always means a following sinus infection), the other one gets ill. It’s a crappy cycle of giving. Hope you get better soon.
Hope you feel better soon.
Get better.
Hi ABeth, everybody where I work has been passing bronchitis back and forth for the last 6 weeks. We’re hoping the cold dry air predicted to arrive will kill a lot of germs. Everybody get well soon!
You should have gotten your flu shot with Anne Wheaton and Jeri Ryan. Feel better soon!
Bummer, dude. Hope you feel better soon. In the meantime, leverage that loving family for all the chicken soup you can hold down :)
Hope you feel better soon.
Well that’s no way to start a new year!
Stay warm and feel better.
I’ve had the man cold for a week now. Just starting to get over it myself. Stupid viruses. Hope you feel better soon.
Hope you feel better quickly.
Console yourself with the thought that it’s not a brain tumor. Probably.
And remember that wheedling works better than demanding when it comes to sympathy and chicken soup.
Well in the past I would have told you to grab a bottle of whisky or some moonshine and dose yourself well (yes I know you don’t imbibe! ;-) ), but since I gave up the habit about 3 1/2 weeks ago I can no longer recommend that. My new advice is to MOAN LOUDER! Make sure all of the other residents of Castle Scalzi know that you are SICK! AILING! IN DIRE STRAITS! Play that sympathy like a symphony.
I hear that the flu is out and about, so I hope you all had your flu shots.
Get better!
Oddly enough, I agree with Digital Atheist: do try moaning. Once when I was absurdly sick and feverish, I discovered that literally moaning actually did make me feel better.
Bummer. Bet the cats see you as a comfy place to sleep if you’re in bed or sacked out on a sofa. (I know mine used to!)
Hope you feel better soon..
Ugh. Sending you a large vat of mental chicken soup and hoping you feel better. Now also thinking, “Mental Chicken Soup” would make a good name for a band.
A lot of that going round. Feel better soon, good sir.
Get better soon, John.
I hope it isn’t Space Madness!
Get well soon!
Stay inside and warm, and make Athena shovel the walk!
Really, you don’t need to fake an illness to take a weekend off from your blog. Just take the weekend off, like you do every weekend.
Unless, of course, you’re really sick, in which case, get well soon!! ;)
Feel better soon!
Me too :(
cough, cough, hack, wheeze….
Moar Chicken tortilla Soup from El Pollo Loco! (Moar Churros AFTER I’m “healed.”)
