He died this morning. The news is here.
I’ll have more to say later, but for now: He was and is my friend, and I will miss him.
Update: A remembrance of Jay Lake.
I’llmiss him, too. He was a hell of a guy.
I am sorry for your loss. And ours.
My condolences, John. And to Jay’s family.
Goodbye Jay. You were wonderful.
Goodbye, Jay.
I’m so sorry for your loss. I discovered him through your participation in the METAtropolis world and I will greatly miss his writing.
We were friends for many years. I wept this morning, however expected this was…
I am so sorry for your loss, John. Jay will be greatly missed.
I’m so sorry for your loss. He seemed like one hell of a guy.
Peace!
I will greatly miss Jay. I did not know him all that well, though we did correspond through email on numerous occasions. I greatly admired his ability to take his illness in stride, share his thoughts with the rest of us and his personal contributions to assisting in research for cures.
I can personally attest to his boundless sense of humor; he mentioned a desire for corprolites some time back and I had a friend send him some, which he seemed to greatly appreciate – http://jaylake.livejournal.com/3081378.html.
His composure and fortitude should serve as good examples for the rest of us.
I’m sorry for your loss, John.
Jay was a great guy. I only had the chance to meet him once when he came down to SF in SF but he was warm and welcoming and invited me to join him for dinner with the other presenters before the event kicked off. First Kage, now Jay. Fuck cancer.
Hell. I had heard that he was entering hospice but didn’t realize his time was so short.
I am so sorry for this loss to you, and his family.
Damn.
My condolences to all his friends and family.
The world is lesser for his no longer being in it.
