I must have the Dead Mountaineer’s Inn!
Can I have that copy of An Unwelcome Quest?
Just kidding. I started reading that last week or so. Decent book, but not on the same level as the first two.
Just how big is the storage shed that contains the never-ending flow of free books? How do I get on that gravy train?
Well, that’s a change from the usual Scalzi Mountain O’ Books: none I have, none on my to get list.
Edge Of The Dark has caught my interest.
I suspect that if I read the 2nd-from-bottom book, the top book will describe me well.
I see something that makes me laugh, “Gene Simmons…” Wow!
Wow, new Clive Barker and Strugatsky brothers in one pile. Interesting.
When We Were Animals sounds intriguing!
David Morrell…can’t go wrong with him!!!
I love books :D
“Gene Simmons is a Powerful and Attractive Man”? What the devil is that about?
Now, ‘The Oatkeeper’ sounded like a book I could get into. But then I saw the ‘H’.
I have already started and finished An Unwelcome Quest. I enjoyed it, and disagree it wasn’t up to the first two. In some ways I liked it better than the second book.
I am terrified of the Gene Simmons one… and curious about Illuminae
Always exciting to see a new David Morrell book out.
“Inspector of the Dead” looks interesting, but this is another stack of books that I haven’t heard of. I feel like I’m falling behind.
Betsy Dornbusch is a friend of mine, so EMISSARY. And I’ve been looking forward to David Morrell’s INSPECTOR OF THE DEAD since MURDER AS A FINE ART was amazing.
@Don Whiteside – I might just be burned out on reading the series. I’ve been trying to review them on my blog, and I’ve went through each of them I think twice before I got to Unwelcome Quest. It isn’t bad by any means, but it just isn’t grasping me the same way the first two had. I’m probably going to step away from it for a week or two and try to come back to it.
Interested in hearing more thoughts on “An Unwelcome Quest”. I really disliked the second book and I’m really holding off on any more by Scott Meyer.
Strugatskys! A new translation, I wonder?
Edge of Dark. I’ve got that one, just have to find the time to read it.
Maybe When We Were Animals. Not sure.
I like the title of “Illuminae”. But let’s be honest, from this pile, the one I’d be most likely to pick up and starting paging through is “Gene Simmons is a Powerful and Attractive Man”. Because it sounds terrible… but my kind of terrible…
I looked up the Gene Simmons book and was disappointed to find out it’s an “authorized parody.”
The Dead Mountaineer’s Inn and When We Were Animals sound interesting (I put ‘animals’ on my to-read list on goodreads). Tortured Souls is another one, but lucky for me (and thanks to this blogs host f) I already have it from the Humble Bundle deal.
