Consider this our annual holiday card to you.

And of course I scheduled this to post at 9:26am.

  1. 9:26 Eastern but OK; that gives me 2 or so hours to order up a coconut creme pie.

    Mmmmmmmm, coconut creme pie…

  2. … except that April has only 30 days! D’oh!

In which case it occurred on 3-1-41 when the Europeans will have had other things on their minds.

  3. And yet, what I take away is that I’m apparently not the only one who likes to sit in a chair with one leg curled under me.

  4. It was indeed a very special pi day.

I figured you would post something even though you are so busy, because of course, you like pie.

Our kids’ school did a whole week of activities, which I thought was wonderful.

And yes — Gene Wilder IS Willy Wonka.

  5. You have the wings to fly
    I really do like pie

Our local baker is making a lot of the ones you usually have to special order. The only choice is what flavor of diabetic coma do you choose for your descent.

  6. I love your family. (@sweetshann – It comes around again tonight — just in time for pizza!_

  7. For Europeans, July 22 (22/7). ’caused American Pi Day is just an approximation…

  8. I’m looking forward to next year, which is going to be the correct approximation to 4 decimal places (3.1416). Get your rounding right, people!

  9. Because 2πr better than one, we had lemon meringue and chocolate cream pies today. Yum!

  10. What I like most about the photo is that it appears as if John may actually be attempting to catch the pie Krissy’s throwing with his mouth. That’s what I would have done too. I mean, why let something like that go to waste, right? Exactly.

  11. i would never do a pic like that unless I had people I could give the pies too. I am a human trash compactor. That is a dangerous thing for someone wirh a sedentary job to do.

  12. Unless Scalzi is intentionally trying to lead us all astray or blow up the internet I don’t understand the, er, math, behind 3.14 (3:14:00) and 9:26 am.

  13. @lee s: And, of course, you can use the entire number pi. 3/14/15 9:26:53.589793238462643383279502884197169399375105820974944592307816406286208998628034825342117067982148…
(Gotta go now. I’ll come back and put the rest in my next comment.)

  14. “What happened to the pecan?”

Members of the Scalzi tribe believe that pi = 3.136
