For Those Wondering Where the Most Recent Site Subtitle Comes From

It comes from this.
(For those of you seeing this in the future, after the subtitle has changed, at the time of this writing, the subtitle was “I still dream of Orgonon.”)
Are you sure you heard that right? Because Wilhelm Reich’s place was called Org*o*non. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orgonon
Great music, and a fun vid, it is making me feel 15 again!
Michael Graf:
Yep, that’s a typo. Fixing.
(NB: “Organon” is also a word, coming down from Greek philosophy.)
Woof!
It was Ms. Bush who got the spelling wrong, not Our John.
I’m glad I can blame her!
You also are a Kate Bush fan? One more reason to like and admire you, sir.
How very steampunkish.
1. Oh, that’s what she was singing there!
2. Can they ship one of those to California? We’ll pay the freight charges.
3. Kate Bush’s videos have still got it.
Last night I dreamed I went to Orgonon again.
I am in love with every song on this album.
That =is= Donald Sutherland, yes?
Yup.
I always thougt the line was “I still dream of Algernon”.
*sigh* Thus my comment here – http://whatever.scalzi.com/2015/07/11/further-tweaking/#comment-792058
Oh thanks! I always try to Google where the new one comes in.
I have not seen this video in years! Still love that album.
The ’40s were rife with charlatans, weren’t they? Makes Hubbard et al look banal…
A charlatan is someone deliberately exploiting people with nonsense. Reich managed to wreck himself completely on the reef of his nonsense.
I worked my way through college cleaning and waxing department store floors. Kate Bush on my Walkman kept me sane. That would be the later half of the ’80s.
I was briefly obsessed with this song a few months ago and came across this cover (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tHD023CTIM) which is also pretty great.
I’m noticing the art cycling, you must have it on a randomizer? Anyway, you have SO much great art from your covers. It’s nice to see the variety, though a little startling.
Good choice, sir!
I thought the title of the documentary was “Scalzi dreams of Churro.”
I do love me some Kate Bush. Excellent taste, mein Herr.
Yes!
She closed her Before the Dawn shows with this song. Still jealous of Paul Cornell getting to see it.. Also, still waiting for a video release of it.
FYI, here’s Paul’s write up of the experience.
Forgot to paste…

The song was inspired by Peter Reich’s ” A Book Of Dreams”. It is quite good and recently back in print.
I dunno; you think Reich actually believed it, or saw it as a con with the potential of becoming a path to power over others?
We need a volunteer to write the obvious filk variant, ‘I Still Dream of Orycon’.
Anyone? Anyone? Bueller?

Oh, it is a Reich reference.
Ya gotta have at least some respect for somebody whose books were burned by the Communists, burned by the Nazis, and burned by the U.S. government.
