View From a Hotel Window, 8/18/15: Portland

If you look closely, you’ll see a parking lot in the picture.

Tonight: Powell’s in Beaverton, OR, at 7pm. Be on time because the Doubleclicks are opening!

Tomorrow: Seattle! I will be amongst you, for my event at the Seattle Public Library, co-hosted by Elliot Bay Books. 7pm!

  1. Ha! It just figures Portland would try to hide all the parking lots with great big shrubberies!! That’s what you get when you put too many tree-hugging dirt-worshippers in the same city.

  2. We may be passing in the airport or in the air tomorrow as I fly into Portland & you fly out. Thank heaven for Subterranean Press signed books!

  3. Wow! Powell’s gets to have Jo Walton and Ada Palmer, then gets to have you and the Doubleclicks! (Maybe it’s not the same branch of Powell’s, I supposed, since they’re kind of like The Blob, eating up blocks of Portlandia, but it’s all L-Space.)

  4. The top level of a parking garage, actually. Close enough, I suppose. It shows the half-dozen or so cars remaining in Portland. All the tree-huggers out there ride bicycles now. ;-)

  5. I can see your hotel from my office! :D
But I’m not stalking you! I promise!

  6. Looking forward to the Doubleclicks (and you, of course) tonight. Ever been to the Seattle Public Library? Most fantastic library on the continent (there’re a couple in Europe that are even more awesome, but Seattle did this one right.

  7. Actually, hugh57, most of them are out of town fighting to save those trees from the MANY fires we’re dealing with this summer.

  8. Parking Lot!
    I see, I think, a grey van.
Can’t tell if it it’s a rockin’ but looks like it’s to far from your window for you to go a knockin’

  9. Portland is a fantastic city, and Powell’s is one of the greatest places on Earth.

You need to stop coming to Seattle on Wednesdays, though. It’s the only day of the week I am absolutely not free to do anything. Tuesdays are always good, though!

  10. I will be at The con in Spokane and hope to see you there. I’m wait listed for the KK. You and Eric Flint are doing things at the same time – Since I like both of your writings It’s driving me crazy

  11. I’m in North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Outside my window is a Canadian Tire store (with parking lot), but beyond that is the ferry terminal to Newfoundland. No ferry now, but earlier there was one that was about the size of a small cruise ship.

  12. For all intents & purposes I fail to see a reason why you insist in cropping Henry out of every pic. Beats me!
