Minneapolis Sunrise and Sunset, 10/10/15

Minneapolis is lovely. Nerdcon:Stories, which is why I’ve been in town, is lovely. Everything is lovely. Hope things are lovely for you too.

By the way, these also constitute my “view from a hotel window” shots for this trip. Enjoy.

Capclave (in Gaithersburg MD) is lovely. It’s like having our own local Readercon. (Mr. Scalzi was Guest of Honor not too many years ago.) This year everybody received a free issue of The Magazine of Fantasy and Science Fiction. Woot!
I think my favorite panel today was about generation starships. So many story possibilities there.

One of my surprise experienced with business trips was Minneapolis. Lots of art. Terrifically bicycle friendly. Unexpected Blues & BBQ festival. The absolutely most fantastic hotel gym I’ve ever experienced at the Hyatt. And once I got off the main conference center street, found lots of good, affordable restaurants.

about a half an hour before sunrise you could have seen four of the planets, too, just above the fingernail of the moon: mercury, jupiter, mars, and venus. here in chicago it was just cloudy enough to make it impossible to make out mercury and mars, though if i’d had binocs i might have been successful. Beautiful sunrise, too.

There are definitely times I regret leaving the Twin Cities after college, hearing about Nerdcon was one of them. Lovely town. Weather didn’t bother me, I’m from northern OH, Twin Cities weather is pretty much the same as at home, just slightly more extreme.
