I can’t decide if I want to read the Aliette de Bodard or not – the first one was … dark…
Am very jealous of you having The Cold Eye, though. Is it January yet?
China Miéville is always intriguing!
I keep hoping to see a new Matthew Stover book in one of these stacks. I know you’re a fan, any chance you know what projects he’s up to these days?
Both the Alwyn Hamilton books titles look interesting.
*aims her squinty bits at This Census-Taker*
Ooh, you already have The Cold Eye! I’ve already pre-ordered that one. Wasn’t enamored of Alliette de Bodard’s first book – maybe check it out from library. And The Census Taker certainly piques my interest.
i LOVE the Census Taker! I randomly bought it for no reason when I was in a bookstore getting something else and I’m so glad I did it! Sleeper hit.
I was fortunate enough to win an ARC of The Cold Eye in a drawing. Its faboo
Ooh, a new China Miéville!
Mieville.
House of Binding Thorns!
What does “ARC” stand for?
ARC = Advanced Reading Copy. An version of the book sent out early so there can be reviews already in existence when the book officially comes out. It may have some typos and other minor differences from the final version.
Nowadays, Baen at least will sell you ARCs of ebooks if you are such a devoted fan you just can’t wait another month or two for Space Goat III: Ungulate Revenge.
I’m very looking forward to Upside Down, now that I’m over being angry at myself for not submitting to it.
The Mieville looks good, but what I really want is the recipe for sriracha peanut butter cookies. The cookie you tweeted about was a thing of beauty.
Rebel of the Sands is a good read.
The John Kessel looks good. I loved his Meeting in Infinity anthology.
House of Binding Thorns!!!!! *squeeeeeeeee*
