Athena’s Graduation, in Pictures

Yup, she did it, and here is the photographic proofa photo set with her (and Hunter, her boyfriend) before, during and after the graduation ceremony. Enjoy it as if you were there your very own self!

(And for those wondering, it was a fine ceremony, and very quick, since Athena had a graduating class of 32. Small rural schools, man. But it was enough time to get all misty-eyed.)

I am not so sure I ‘get’ graduations & proms in the US but I can appreciate a Dad (& Mom) being proud of their daughter. Go Scalzi!

  2. Congrats to Athena and Hunter as well as to the parents and families. It looks like she enjoyed the day, which is great!

  3. What a wonderful set of photos! Congratulations to Athena and Hunter!

  4. Out of curiosity, has there ever been a time when her hair wasn’t like that? As someone whose family has a history of similarly unruly hair (and who mainly reacts by keeping it as short as possible), I can only imagine what it must take to maintain.

  5. My congratulations for a formidable woman, and to her parents at this time of transition.

(I have to admit, when the photo set opened up, my FIRST reaction was “Holy crap, Hunter cut his hair!”)

  6. Congratulations! And, IMNSHO, small graduations are the best (my h.s. class had about 100 students – bigger than Athena’s but still small enough to be personal.)

Congratulations to Athena! And, as a teacher in a high school with a graduating class of 500+, I envy you. Our graduation is ridiculously long.

@Andrew Hackard–I had that same first thought!

  9. Congratulations!
My daughter graduated this last week too, they must be close in age. So much worry to get them to this point, isn’t it ? Of course we parents get misty eyed!

  10. As previously said on Twitter, congratulations to Athena and Hunter, and kudos to all involved, including the photographer with mad skillz. Especially in the photos where Athena is laughing, when she smiles big, I see the resemblance to both her parents, in a wonderful unique blend.

  11. Congratulations, Athena! Wishing you all the best in your next set of adventures. It has been a pleasure to follow your achievements through your dad’s blog posts.

  12. Congratulations to Athena, Hunter and the whole class! Our son’s is next year, looking forward to it.
