I’m in Sacramento, California. Here are some pictures from where I am.
Hope your day is fabulous, wherever you are.
Last photo: Pennywise is near…….
Love that second shot.
Excellent pics! No photogenic car-parks in Sacramento, presumably.
Is that first one the Sacramento Bee?
Great pics. The angles in the second one are mesmerizing.
I don’t see any reference to it on your blog, but Tom Hanks name checked you in the New York Times book section today. He’s obviously got great taste.
My hometown. Enjoy, there are a lot of things to love about the area.
Hoping you caught NYT By the Book where you make Tom Hanks list:
Which novelists do you especially enjoy reading?
Alan Furst, Philip Kerr, Amor Towles, John Scalzi.
Cool, what are you doing over there?
Had I known you were coming, I’da baked a cake. And invited you over to eat it.
I’m no flower expert, but that first picture looks like the top of a triffid. Protect your eyes.
Hope I get to visit such places
Yesterday, I arrived in Villereal, a village in southwest France where I’m going to housesit over the winter and look after a herd of alpacas. I did not make Tom Hanks’s list of favorites, but last week George R.R. Martin called me “criminally underrated,” and one of the “giants of the genre.” So there’s that.
That first photo is exactly the sort of thing I expect from Rusty, of HoneyBeeSuite.com.
Doesn’t that violate some rule against crossing the streams?
In other words, Great photo of an actual honey bee (not one of the thousands of other kinds of bees, who are also quite lovely, but not my personal fanaticism).
At an outdoor wedding in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Not the ideal time of year, but the storm blew through yesterday, and the fall leaves are gorgeous.
I love the balloon with the capitol.
I’m glad you are far from the fires, although they might be providing you with some nice sunsets.

creepy looking monk!
Re: your final picture – we also had a red sun over here in UK-land, looked a bit different from yours though. Sand from the Sahara and smoke particles from forest fires in the Iberian Peninsula caused it.
1. Wow, stunning.
3. Stuff of nightmares.
4. Where are the other 98? Just kidding, I love this photo.
Xopher Halftongue, “Where are the other 98?”
Dang, you beat me to it. :)
