And Now Are All My Travels Ended, 2018 Edition

Here’s a painterly view out of my front door today — I’ve arrived back home from work-related travel, once again, and finally, for the rest of 2018. If I travel anywhere else for the rest of the year, and to be clear I have no plans to, then it will be for personal reasons only. But honestly at this point, between now and the end of 2018, where I really want to be is home.

Since October 16, I’ve been five days home. I very much enjoyed touring, and seeing France, and getting to do a couple of dates with Cixin Liu, but spending most of a month on the road is tiring no matter who you are. I’m going to catch up on sleep, petting cats and spending time with Krissy and Athena for the next week at least, and then see where everything goes from here.

If I saw you on the road this year, it was lovely to see you! I hope I get to see you again. Just, not yet. I’m sure you’ll understand.

  1. My my. I think there’s an extra “my” in the title, no?

  2. kirizar – Michigan – I am all things to all people. As long as people are looking for a mom with diverse interests and a homebound tendency to look through the window of life and wish (or imagine) something just a little bit different. I am like the Tardis on Doctor Who. I am much bigger on the inside.

I was a bit afraid to point it out. Maybe it’s a hold over from being in France? A translation error? Jet lag?

  3. Enjoy your home! Enjoy the cats and Krissy and Athena, and I’m so so glad both that you’ve had good travels and that you’re happily home!

  4. So glad you got through all that road time and are home again – I can’t even imagine what it would be like to have to be Up And On And Interactive And Engaged for that long at a stretch. Or rather, I can imagine, and I’m exhausted just thinking about it. Enjoy your down-time with your beloveds, all of them, and thank you for all that you do to entertain the rest of us.

  5. It was great to see you on your Los Angeles leg of the tour. Still waiting for somebody to post a video of that ukelele tour de force you graced us with at The Last Bookstore! Enjoy the home and hearth. Thanks for coming out to see us all over the damned place.

  6. Glad to have caught up with you a few times this year and have some books scribbled in. Enjoyed the talk with Cixin Liu. One surprising thing about the panel is that he got bigger laughs than you did!

  7. I assume that the image is a normal camera-photo treated to some Photoshop lovin’? You’ve never mentioned that you or family members are painters, but it occurred to me to check.
