Hey, Guess Who Just Finished Writing a Novel?

SPOILER: It was me.

I’m very happy, both with the novel, and that it’s done.

More details soon.

  1. Note that when I say “more details soon” it means “I have no details to give right now,” so if you ask me questions about it I won’t have anything to tell you yet. Patience! Answers soon!

  2. John is known for his breaks, nay, he is notorious for his breaks, whereupon he moves to the kitchen and dreams up soi-disant ‘burritos’ to inflict on the faithful. Bologna, mac & cheese and ketchup are the least of the abominations that await we wretches.

(This is why he moved to a state where they serve chili over macaroni. To fit in! No peasants with torches and pitchforks, no Tejano rightists picketing, just sad self-pleasuring. With cottage cheese…)

  3. (Sorry John, I stand four square with Wil on this, and if he decides to stage an intervention, I have cab fare.)

  4. Well, it’s about damn time!

No, good one. That’s where your cunning plan to turn more of the blog duties over to Athena has paid off.

  5. Congratulations! That has to feel awfully good, and I hope you have plans for a great celebration to mark the occasion!

Really glad you found your groove again, and that you are taking as much joy and satisfaction from your work as you clearly are. And I’m looking forward to enjoying the results, whatever they are, too.

    Mazel tov!

  6. I understand that you can’t yet share anything about this project. For your say 5 prior novels can you share the range of time between manuscript submission and publication? I am just looking for a benchmark….

  7. “SPOILER: It was me.”

Well, at least we got SOME sort of spoiler about the new novel. Glad you got the major thing done. I’ve got a feeling you’re going to need some more free time to integrate the new family member into the mix…

  8. Congrats and all the best. Now I concede I may be wrong but aren’t there eight more books to write in four years? I will read them all of course but that’s a tight schedule.

  9. Yay for the new Scalzi novel!! Looking forward to reading it whenever it comes out,and right now I’m behind on reading other new novels by favorite authors because tax season – which was just extended for a month by the IRS. Sigh.

  10. Yay!

Whatever it is, you’ve got at least one sale (and likely two, if it comes out on audio as well.)

    Can’t wait to hear more!
